Greetings, I am new to this forum and I have a request. I am a registered nurse and live in the USA near Chicago Illinois. I have many years of nursing experience and am presently a graduate student working on a Master's degree. As a class assignment, I am to find an e-mail pen pal who is a nurse from another country. The purpose is to share nursing, cultural and educational experiences. It would be good if this person were also a graduate student but this is not mandatory. Would anyone be interested? I would be very happy to hear from you. Thanks.
depends which area and which hospital u work in cleacia. in london which is always short of nurses you can have some pretty hectic days believe u me, however if u move up north where the nursing shortage is less acute u have a better chance of more nursing staff thus more time to spend with the patients.
Carcha......Most likely we will settle in north England. We're not 100% sure yet. There so much I need to look into....lol.
I left nursing 4 years ago and to get back in I had to take a refresher course. I met a lady from Scotland during the course. She said our medications are different so I was thinking I might need to look into a similar course in England. I'm not sure that I would feel comfy just jumping into nursing there.
This may sound like a silly question but do y'all get to wear scrubs or is it some sort of uniform?
Thanks :),

u only wear scrubs in thr or or else itu otherwise its a uniform, tops trousers or dress, have u looked into what salery u will get. u should especially if your experienced u dont want to get there and find as so many of the nurses i met that your offered almost the equiv. of a health care aide salery. thats really important, dont rely on your employer to make an offer, be ready with what your worth.
Thanks for the info on uniforms. As far as sexy goes....US scrubs aren't sexy either...lol.
I have looked briefly into salaries over there. My MIL has been helping as well. I definitely would want to get what is deserved for the position. I will be doing a lot more research into this. Thanks for the heads up.

Hiya
Don't know if i'd fit the bill.. Im a US trained RN who worked there for 9 years before coming and living and working in Scotland for the past four years .. just over three in the NHS and the rest as a nurse in private research doing drug trials.. So i've worked in both systems..

I keep hearing that nurses in the UK have less of a patient load than here in the US. Is that true? Where I work I can have 8-10 patients. Also, is it true that y'all do less duties thus freeing up more time for quality patient care?
Thanks for offering to help :).
