D'youville college nursing program spring 2016

Published

Hi guys! I have been accepted into d'youville's nursing program and I start in spring 2016. I would love if any past or present students can share their experiences with me. How did you find the classes( hard, ok if you study, information for the classes were on the actual tests). Cost of living. Living on or off campus? Did it work for you? I am very excited to start and I know it's gonna be a lot of work and dedication so any information that can be of assistance to me will be greatly appreciated. I am also moving from nyc, so if there's anyone that moved to buffalo as a nursing student or who is from buffalo or the surrounding areas can share their living/adjustment experience with me I would love that. Also if you will be starting in the spring of 2016, feel free to say hi so we can get acquainted. Thanks.

Moved to Nursing Schools, Programs, colleges

hey, i was also accepted for spring 2016 and I am from NY as well

Congratulations on both of your acceptances! :)

I was accepted and almost attended DYC's BSN program a couple of years ago, but did not attend because I was accepted to my local BSN program and financially, it just made more sense to stay home.

Since you guys are relocating, I would suggest you look for apartments in the "Elmwood Village" and "Allentown" areas since they are considered the more safe areas around DYC. There are some pretty cool, unique places to live in Buffalo and rent is actually pretty reasonable.

Congratulations again and good luck on your apartment search!

Thank you so much PMH: awesome. I will start looking at the end of the month as I am waiting on my financial aid package to come through first. Where did you go for nursing and how was the experience for you?

Hi princess Chi. You should pm so we can chat and get acquainted. Did you get your orientation date as yet? Will you be staying on campus or getting an apartment?

Kady,

I was also supposed to start DYC in January (like both of you) and flew up in October to start my apartment search with the idea if I found something, I would put a deposit down early to secure a place to live. It worked out fabulously, I was able to secure an apartment for the month of November and only paid one month in advance since I would moving in the beginning of December.

Word of advice, start looking and contacting properties you are interested in NOW. I was told time and time again, finding an apartment to rent in the winter months is a bit more challenging.

I was recently accepted to UPenn's nurse practitioner (MSN program) and will be starting in 6 months! I really really liked DYC and was considering applying to them for grad school, but unfortunately they do not offer an adult-gerontology track.

Thanks for your advice. I will start looking into it soon. I wish you all the best. I can't wait to start school. It's been a journey getting here and I know it will be a challenge getting through it. But I am ready to dedicate myself to my studies.

Thank you so much for the informative advice PMH. I am actually very new to this site and have no idea how to use it lol or private message. It says i have to have a specific number of posts or something before I can send out a private message. So kady if you would like to send me one that would be nice. I haven't actually received my package yet, they told me over the phone that I was accepted and sent me an email to wait about ten days before receiving more information.

No problem, and good luck to you guys as well!

As soon as you receive your packet make your deposit and file your fafsa and tap. That's what I'm waiting on right now before I make my next move. I will try to see if I can pm now.
