Duties of a Radiology Nurse

What are the Duties of a Radiology Nurse?

For instance, would you be involved in helping to perform/interpret/read scans such as U/S, X-rays, CT, ECG, MRI etc. Maybe as an NP you could give referrals to scans or be part of diagnosing a broken bone for instance.

one is Australian and one is a company that sells devices. The first link is also in regards to nurse midwives, which are nurses with additional education and clinical experience who are advanced practice nurses. Please, seek advice from a counselor in your area who can help you figure out your career path. It seems you are truly seeking a career that simply may not exist.

I wasn't sure because it just detailed information about sonogram nurses.

I have tried speaking to someone but they could only advise for me to do research which I have been doing heaps of. I know what I want but I just don't know what career my interests are linked with. I'm really confused and don't want to make a mistake.

What are your interests, and what career do those interests point you to?  From your questions, it sounds more like you are interested in a Radiologic Technology program (doing the exams), rather than Nursing.  Perhaps you could shadow a technologist?

I found out one of my "boss" Radiologists, had once been in the Merchant Marines.  I quizzed him once, what he did there, and what did he think of his time spent there?  He paused, and said, "I found out what I DIDN'T want to do!"  He went on to major in Physics, then get his MD, then specialize in Nuclear Medicine.   Perhaps by shadowing (or maybe even interviewing a "real live" technologist and perhaps a "real live" nurse, you may realize that one may suit you more than the other.  Perhaps there are no "mistakes," only things we realize about ourselves in the learning process.

Dianah - That's so true! I hope that I start to think like that - it's stressful not having it worked out.

Probably anything healthcare related is interesting but my goal is to be able to provide healthcare to those with physical and mental health conditions (to all ages if possible) - that cuts heaps out since it might target only one specifically (see attachment). Here's the things that I find interesting (not a checklist) and some things can be compensated e.g. not performing an x-ray but being able to view/understand things in the scan for instance, naturally you would work with the homeless etc.  unnamed.thumb.png.d991daa10351d00725e7431d79d06814.png

What are your interests

Did you have any suggestions based on my previous post? Thank you!! ☺️

My only suggestion is to work in an area for a bit and see what draws you.  Work as a CNA or a receptionist, and observe the flow of the area; who does what.  A clinic's atmosphere and flow will be very different than, say, an Emergency Department or an ICU!  Big difference between being a Radiology Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner (NP)!   Continue doing your research, and see to where you are attracted.

Thank you! What jobs could my interests fall into? - Improving people's physical/mental health for emergency/non-emergency reasons (e.g general health needs). The list describes it better.

Also, do you mean because an NP can work more independently?
