Hey everyone! I could not find a forum for the ABSN program at Duquesne for Fall 2021, so I decided to go ahead and create one. I just got my acceptance letter this week, and am 99% sure this is the program I am going to commit to. Would love to talk to other candidates who are in the process of applying, already applied and waiting for a decision, or have been accepted already as well!

I’m having a hard time finding much discussion about the program itself besides a handful of pretty negative posts from some of the past years. Wondering if these are just a handful of disgruntled students or if the program actually has some issues, and if so, if they’ve been addressed.
I spoke with a student who participated in the program last year and is from the Pittsburgh area who said:
the grad rate is around 91%-92%. In my cohort of about 55, we've lost maybe 2 or 3 so far. I don't know about he other cohort. You're program is modified if you fail a class. I don't know exactly how that would work. I would assume it depends on what class you fail. You can start in the 12 month and move to the 16 month after the 1st semester but there is a few thousand dollar cost to do that.

Hi! congratulations on your acceptance!! I found a place super close to campus but I hear a lot of people live in Shadyside and drive/take a bus. Southside seems more like a typical college party scene (kids from Duquesne, pitt, and CMU) based on what I heard at the Q&A session.

Thank you! Do you know if there is another place where I can connect with other students in the program? I am interested in possibly finding a roommate!

I found my roommate (also goes to duquesne) on the facebook group it’s called Pittsburgh housing, rooms, apartments, sublets. You can find some people on ABSN official fb group too but it’s not that active atm. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your budget for rent? We’re actually looking for a third roommate to fill a 3b3b unit!

Honestly, I still don't know if I'll commit to this program. I'm still waiting on decisions from another school But, my budget is around 1,200 utilities included (also hoping for onsite parking and in unit washer/dryer)! By chance, are you and your roommate male or female?

I see, I was waiting on another school too but decided to commit to this program mainly bc of the cost. Waiting is the worst part honestly? my roommate and I are both female btw!

Hey all!
Has anyone else started working through the Clincal & Health Requirements for the program and feeling a bit overwhelmed? Specifically as an out of state student, some of these to do items (like the FBI Clearance) says it can take 6-8 weeks to be processed and the due date to complete everything by is July 15th. I am also not sure if I am missing something, but I can't find the "Package Code" for CastleBranch anywhere. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Looking forward to meeting everyone ?

Just as a follow up on my post from yesterday! The checklist just hadn't been posted yet but is now up on Dori and has the needed codes on it.

It definitely seems like a lot of stuff that needs to get done! I'm also out of state and moving to Pittsburgh in about a month, I'm hoping to get it all out of the way before then just to avoid further complicating things.

I'll also be moving from the west coast and I've never been to Pittsburgh before either, seems like a great place to live tho! :)
