Duquesne online FNP - anyone?

Published

Hi! I'm approaching my 1 year of experience (medical-oncology unit in a UPMC facility), and am starting to seriously research programs. I'm really interested (actually my first choice as of now) in Duquesne University's online FNP program. It just seems to fit what I'm looking for. But I've been scowering this website for several months, and nobody seems to have any personal experience with Duquesne for MSN programs.

I'm looking for any relevant advice, tips, or personal experience with their FNP program. I'm looking at their online program, but would love any insight at all. Aside from my BSN, I also hold a BS degree in biology (earned before my BSN). Both degrees were completed with a graduating GPA of about 3.2, so I hope that having 2 BS degrees helps to compensate for the sub-par GPAs (perhaps I'm being naive). Duquesne is a reputable institution, so I'm mostly concerned I'm reaching for something out of my reach.

Hello All, who is starting Duquesne FNP- MSN program in spring 2018?

I am starting in January!

Nice. I am starting January 10th as well. I will be purchasing my books for the semester here soon.

I am also starting January 10th!!! Pretty excited and anxious all at the same time. Wondering if you know of anyone in the program and how it went or is going ... I really wish there was more information about Duquesne FNP program...

How exciting, congratulations on your acceptance. Unfortunately, I do not know any current or former students and there is not much information on the internet. Anyhow, hopefully we will. Meet more student as the program progress. I am excited! Are you registered for classes?

Please keep posts coming regarding this program. I agree there is not much on it and I am also considering switching to this program. The more info the better!

Can anyone tell me how long this program takes to complete if going full time?

Approximately 3 years.

Have you spoken with a student advisor?

I have applied to and been accepted to 3 other programs, but my first choice is Duquesne. I have found the application process very easy, but have had difficulty getting my enrollment advisor to return my call. I have left 2 message and sent an email looking for an application process update. Has anyone else experienced this? Once in the program, how is the communication from advisors and professors?

I am so sorry you are experiencing difficulties. I myself, have not experience this. My student enrollment advisor is awesome. Is it possible your enrollment advisor is on vacation? Also, when did you apply to Duquesne University?

They were off for break as she left me a message 10 min before close of business 12/22 and returned 1/2. I know I am not their only potential student, but have just found it very frustrating. Hoping she is on vacation, trying to find a positive :-)
