Hi! I'm approaching my 1 year of experience (medical-oncology unit in a UPMC facility), and am starting to seriously research programs. I'm really interested (actually my first choice as of now) in Duquesne University's online FNP program. It just seems to fit what I'm looking for. But I've been scowering this website for several months, and nobody seems to have any personal experience with Duquesne for MSN programs.
I'm looking for any relevant advice, tips, or personal experience with their FNP program. I'm looking at their online program, but would love any insight at all. Aside from my BSN, I also hold a BS degree in biology (earned before my BSN). Both degrees were completed with a graduating GPA of about 3.2, so I hope that having 2 BS degrees helps to compensate for the sub-par GPAs (perhaps I'm being naive). Duquesne is a reputable institution, so I'm mostly concerned I'm reaching for something out of my reach.
I was accepted to Chamberlain, Walden and Spring Arbor....waiting on Duquesne and Drexel. So far, I really like Drexel's program and how responsive everyone has been there. My admission advisor finally called me back from Duquesne...1 month later. She was very disorganized and told me that she didn't have everything for review. Mind you, I sent it all in December prior to the break my CV, resume and goal statement were all attached in the same email. She told me she didn't have my goal statement, and wasn't sure if she had my recommendations, also sent in December. Very discouraging. I really am hopeful that I will be accepted to Drexel!! Good luck and thanks for the input!

I’m applying after I complete the BSN program through Chatham. Please let me know how you like it. Add me on FB if you like “Lindsay Rene” good luck
This is someone in their third and final year in the program. I would say be prepared to teach yourself a lot in the clinical course semesters, which I think is unfair since you have to do so many things outside of school on your own. I feel for an online school; you should have more guidance in lectures and such. I think for anyone who is going into any NP Program, make sure to ask what they do in regards to helping you find preceptors because that will be a lifesaver. Duquense helps, but the problem is AHN and UPMC are the biggest people, and they have special procedures, and if you do not follow them, you can get kicked out of your program.

I am accepted for May but also accepted to Gonzaga. Trying to decide between the two. It's been difficult to find anyone from either program to give an opinion. Have heard some discouraging things about the Duquesne BSN program grading system. Not sure how all of that worked out or if it impacts the MSN program at all
