I WORK FOR A WELL KNOWN HOSPITAL IN NC (DUKE) BUT LIKE EVERY OTHER HOSPITALS OUT THERE IT HAS IT'S PROBLEMS MAINLY STAFFING .PLUS THE PAY IS $19.00/HR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :angryfire THE PT TO RN RATIO IS PRETTY DECENT ON MY UNIT(STEPDOWN) BUT THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE RATIO IS 6:1 ON NIGHTS. THE THINGS IS, I AM CONSIDERING WORKING IN NYC AND LIVING IN NC ( STANDARD OF LIVING IS CHEAP EXCEPT FOR FOOD AND THE SCHOOL DISCRICT WHERE MY KID GO IS EXCELLENT) BUT I THINK THAT THE COMMUTE WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!! ANY ADVICE:o ALSO CONSIDERING AGENCY WORK, BUT DON'T HAVE ENOUGH INFO ON THEM

If you live in NC, how would you commute to NYC?

Are you thinking of traveling nursing? I did that for about 3 years. Best time of my life. Met many nurses like yourself with families and they wanted to provide a better life and did traveling nursing. The pay is great and you can pick your assisgnments/areas and then the time you go. Families can visit. It worth a try.

GREAT INPUT GUYS I WAS CONSIDERING COMMUTING BY PLANE AT LEASE ONCE A WEEK ON MY DAYS OFF. IT SOUNDS CRAZY TO ME, MAYBE THAT'S JUST IT, IF IT SOUNDS THAT CRAZY THEN I SHOULD CONSIDER AN ALTERNATIVE STILL UP IN ARMS ABOUT WHAT TO DO??? :smiletea2:
