I thought I would start this thread for people applying for Duke's MSN program Spring 2022. I am applying for FNP and applied early admission since I'm a Duke nurse. Anyone else already have the ball rolling?

@FutureNP_1319 I'll add my 2 cents here to some already great advice! As stated above, I don't think they are looking per say for the most experience. I think they look for your "investment" in the profession of nursing. What have you done to demonstrate that you have taken ownership in your practice.
As the others mentioned above, certification is huge as it demonstrates your willingness and ability to become an expert in your field. My advice would be to hone your skills with the "future" in sight. Create a track and professional goals. This will help bring clarity to why you are advancing your career and how Duke fits into that. Also demonstrate collaborative practice by developing key relationships with APNs and MDs. They should be able to vouch for why you are the best candidate to advance your nursing degree.
Essay wise... Just write your heart in the most succinct way. Be honest, have a vision for your life and career and you will do fine. Incorporate diversity, versatility and compassion.
For the interview, don't stress about it. If you do all the above, you will be able to answer the "real life" questions they ask. They just want to get to know you and see how you handle certain situations.
