Duke 2016 Nurse Residency Program

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hey everyone! So I realized there wasn't a group for the 2016 Nurse Residency at Duke so I thought I would make a group that we we could all talk about it. My interview is January 15 so I'm pretty nervous but I'm also excited! Feel free to post with any questions or advice!

All RNs at Duke Raleigh wear galaxy blue.
I knew it couldn't be "Duke" blue b/c people might not want to call it that (there are two color blues: Carolina and Duke LOL).

Thanks for clarifying. Now I know what I need to ask for as I believe it won't be

long.....

I graduate in December with my ADN and am considering moving to NC! I am planning on registering for a BSN program as soon I finish my ADN. I was wondering if any of you that had interviews had ADN's or if Duke preferred a BSN. Als, how early did you start applying for positions?!

Hey ntd16!

First congratulations on the position! I also just accepted a position on the CTSICU with a start date of August 8th and I'm relocating from Massachusetts. I know during my shadow and interview people told me to look at townhouses in Brier Creek that were really nice and not too far from the hospital. I just emailed the woman I interviewed with yesterday because she said she may be able to help find me a roommate! I'm so excited to be working at Duke too!

Hi there! First off, congrats on the position at Duke! I just received an invitation for an interview at Duke and scheduled it for next week. I am also from MA so I am taking a short trip down for this interview! Do you have any tips or advice?? Did you already pass your NCLEX before the interview or were you still in your final semester? I am freaking out because I have applied to take my NCLEX in MA because I wasnt sure about getting any offers from out of state ( I applied for this Duke position in March) and the MA BON is really behind right now on approving applications and need to wait a few more weeks to even get my ATT number and it has been 3 weeks already. i of course will schedule for the closest date to test just so if I pass I can apply for my NC license asap if i get this job. I just hope they are understanding of this situation!

I just got invited to interview for Neuroscience ICU. Im hoping to hear from Emergency Department though since that is where Im doing role transition and my dream job. If not, I will probably apply elsewhere to see if I get ED. Still exciting though!

i everyone! I graduate nursing school this December (2016) and I'm applying to duke for the spring for the new grad residency! I'm coming from MD so I'm super nervous. Does anyone have any tips for out of state applicants? I work as a nurse extern at Johns Hopkins but I attend a small nursing program at Towson University (a smaller school) in MD

Hey guys!

So I applied for the Duke new grad RN program a while back and I have an interview scheduled for next week for the Neuro ICU! any advice?! I am so nervous but also so excited! I have had a few other interviews and job offers but Duke is 100% my first choice! Im praying for an offer! Let me know if anyone has any interviewing tips! Also they requested that I wear scrubs to the interview, any specific color recommendations!? Thanks and God Bless!!!

Good Luck! Just look nice and neat. :)

Hi x_tina00!

I'm just seeing this now, but I'm excited to hear of yet another person from MA potentially going down to Duke! I am also from MA and just started at Duke this month as a new grad. Did you end up accepting a position? Do you still need help sorting out your NCLEX stuff or need any advice? Anyways, hope it all worked out :) you can email me if you want at [email protected]
