Duke New Grad Nurse Residency Spring 2019

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hello,

I wanted to start a thread for those who are interested in Duke's New Grad Residency program for Spring 2019 ( Feb/March 2019 start dates). I wanted to connect with others who have applied or are planning to apply.

Has anyone interviewed or been in contact with Duke?

Where are you applying to?

I got offered the job for Duke Children's! I'm so excited! Any suggestions on places to live out there? I've heard Morrisville is great!

Congrats Knights4322!! That's so exciting!! ? Our start dates are almost here!

I just moved to Cary from SWFL and I can only say great things about the triangle! Morrisville is awesome and cheaper I think, a lot of rentals and young professionals. Also tons of shopping and good eats, and it's close to everything. Raleigh is like 15-20 min away and Umstead has great hiking trails. I'd just keep in mind that it's near RDU in case plane noise would bother you. Honestly no matter where you land around here I'm sure you're going to love it. Most people I've met are also new to the area and moved for work, so it feels pretty easy to meet and click with people. I feel safe walking my dog at night, people are super friendly and helpful, lots of families, and there's always something going on.

I'll add some links that helped me get to know the area ?

Hi! I have been selected for a video screen for Duke's ER program. I am so excited! Anyone else?

What is everyone wearing to orientation? Business casual or scrubs? I think it's a bit of a walk from the parking garage to the Searle center so I'd love to wear sneakers lol.

Do you guys know what the scrub color is for RN’s or are we allowed to wear any color? HR has been all over the place and hasn’t sent me any information!

Thank you so much for all the info! Do you find that the commute from Cary is too far? I haven’t been looking in that area because I thought it would be too far but I’ve gotten so many recommendations to check it out.

Specializes in PACU.

Royal blue is the color nurses wear at Duke.

Hello I’m interviewing for the ED and was wondering if you could share your experience so far?
