Duke MSN Spring 2019

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Anyone else applying to Duke MSN program for Spring 2019? Application deadline is Monday and it's all I can think about! I'm applying to the PNP program. Would love to connect with some other potential cohort members!

What program did you apply for?

Post masters fnp

If you got the email about the meet and greet day, then I'm sure you got in. We'll be in the program together!

Hi guys! Unfortunately due to the hurricane, the event was cancelled. I hope everyone is safe and hopefully I will get to meet you guys prior to our semester in Spring 2019! We should make a facebook page where we could all connect! Also, I was wondering if anyone knows the degree plan for BSN-DNP FNP program? I could not find it on Duke's website, they only have separate MSN and DNP degree plan but not BSN-DNP. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks y'all :)

I was really looking forward to the DUSON day as I'm excited to meet my future classmates, but also to get some face-to-face time with financial aid personnel and figure out what the next 2-3 years of my life is going to look like. I have an MSN in education and am curious, too, to know what the curriculum could be. If anyone hears soon, let us know :).

I have a BSN and I'm taking the BSN-DNP route and really want to know how long it would take me to complete if I do full-time. I looked on my Duke hub and it said that my expected graduation date would be Fall 2021 if I were to do full-time (including summer semesters). And yes, I booked my flight and hotel and was really eager to meet you all! I also wanted to talk to the financial aid department as well. I emailed Nora and she said that if there are any updates regarding this event, we will be notified.

Three years full-time sounds about right for a DNP. Mine says the same- Fall 2021- but I'm considered "fully enrolled" and still need to wrap my head around what that really means. I'm hoping we'll be contacted by our advisors soon (well after all has settled from Flo) and s/he will be able to more fully answer my pages of questions :).

I emailed Duke admissions after we got accepted about the BSN - DNP FNP program and how many semesters the program will be this is what she emailed me back:

My apologies for the delayed response. You are correct, the information available online is for matriculation prior to 2018. The format moving forward has not been made public. We have recently updated the curriculum to benefit students for multiple reasons including financing/scholarship eligibility, and pace of the program. In this update there is only one enrollment option referred to as "fully enrolled" during this transition. Starting the FNP program in the Spring 2019 term for the MSN portion of the program will be 8 semesters. The DNP program will be an additional 5 semesters. There is an opportunity to slightly accelerate the DNP enrollment length by taking course work ahead of schedule, making the program 4 semesters instead. All in all, the total amount of time for the post BSN-DNP FNP program is 12-13 semesters. We do have three semesters per year, Fall, Spring, and Summer at 12 weeks each.

Hope this helps!

According to this email we will graduate the MSN in 2021 and the DNP in 2022.

So I guess we'll have two graduations to attend? And I guess it's also part-time correct? Thank you for the verification :)

Which advisor did you email?

Hi classmates,

I've just checked my Duke email and found an email from Nora this week asking us to fill out a survey regarding a make-up DUSON Day in October. It might be worth it to fill it out if you're interested in attending a make-up.
