Hey everyone!
I was wondering if there was anyone out there applying to Duke's ABSN program for the spring or fall class in 2012. I'm going to apply, but can't decide if I should apply for the spring or the fall. If I apply for the Spring class- I will still have 3 prereqs to finish (micro, soc, and stat) which I can finish before the program starts. Is it crazy to apply to Duke with 3 outstanding prereqs? Should I wait until December and apply for Fall 2012 instead? At that time I will be currently taking the last of the prereqs. Any advice would be helpful! Especially if there's anyone who has gotten into Duke with 3 prereqs to go...
How long were we thinking before interview notifications? One to two weeks?
I talked to the very helpful woman at the admissions office yesterday who told me they will notify everyone about interviews on the 11th. So soon, but the wait is going to kill me!
p.s.... HI EVERYONE!! :)! I haven't posted on here yet. I've looked at the threads for previous years for a while now, but just started looking at this one. Good luck to you all- hopefully we will all get in and be classmates!
A little about me... This is my first application to turn in. I'm also applying to Johns Hopkins and Medical Uni of SC this round. I'm currently living in Portland, Oregon, but looking forward to heading back to the other side of the country. I got my first degree in Art Education and have been working as a dance teacher, as a ceramics artist, and also in an art gallery. I've loved it all but I've been feeling the pull to nursing for a long time now. GPA was a 3.49, pre-reqs all A's except for English Comp which I took my freshman year in college and got a B. I'm hoping they'll be understanding on that one. I've been volunteering at a hospital for about a year, but have no medical experience otherwise. Duke is definitely my first choice, so my finger and toes are crossed!!
Good Luck to everyone!
Hello, everyone! I also applied to Duke for Spring 2012. Does anyone happen to know if you are given a choice of interview dates, or are they are assigned? I'm coming from the West Coast and am hoping that I would be able to get the latest date to allow myself more time to arrange my schedule and find a decent flight. I realize that I could do a phone interview but would prefer to go in person and check out the school (I've only been to Duke once, and it was a brief visit). Thanks for any info you can provide! And best of luck to all!
flyhi -- thanks for all the great info! 66 spots for 150 interview... is it just me, or is that a scary number?! i was hoping that if i'm lucky enough to be offered an interview that it would ease some of my discomfort around waiting for a decision, but it looks like it's going to be a long summer of perfecting the art of patience, haha. :)
best of luck to everyone! you'll be in my thoughts on monday. can't wait to hear all your good news!!
I was thinking they would take more too--that's 56%. At least if we get an interview we'll know we still have a chance!
and they might...that's just what i *think* i remembered when i asked.. pretty sure they are aiming for 50 interviewees on each Duke Day, so it really just depends on how many true applicants there are. It certainly could be more than 200
At least we are applying for the Spring, the Fall should have many more applicants for the same number of seats.
Good Luck today, everyone!

My status just changed to complete also..a mere minute or so after my last reference clicked submit. I join everyone in the waiting game.
