Duke ABSN 2012

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hey everyone!

I was wondering if there was anyone out there applying to Duke's ABSN program for the spring or fall class in 2012. I'm going to apply, but can't decide if I should apply for the spring or the fall. If I apply for the Spring class- I will still have 3 prereqs to finish (micro, soc, and stat) which I can finish before the program starts. Is it crazy to apply to Duke with 3 outstanding prereqs? Should I wait until December and apply for Fall 2012 instead? At that time I will be currently taking the last of the prereqs. Any advice would be helpful! Especially if there's anyone who has gotten into Duke with 3 prereqs to go...

How long did it take for your application to say something other than submitted? I know they have all my references and I am pretty sure they have all my transcripts, but it says submitted and not complete.

Hey, all!

I submitted my application yesterday evening and had an eTrancript sent to them before that. Around 11 this morning, the application materials they had received appeared online and the status changed to complete. The turnover happened very quickly! Best of luck to you all applying in these last couple of days! It would never hurt to call them if you are worried about your status not showing complete. Every person I have spoken with has been helpful and sweet. Can't wait to use this forum as an outpouring of frustrations with the waiting game!

How long did it take for your application to say something other than submitted? I know they have all my references and I am pretty sure they have all my transcripts, but it says submitted and not complete.

I submitted my official sealed transcripts and letters of recommendation in one folder last Wednesday, it arrived last Friday, and as of this morning (Tuesday) everything has been listed as received, and my application is now complete.

Still waiting for one letter of recommendation to be submitted... he is working nights right now and I think he's pooped. I told him to please submit it by the 29th so I really hope he does!!! Nervous.

Everything is completed on my application except for one transcript that hasn't been received because there won't be any grades on it until I finish my summer class at the end of July. I emailed the nice lady in the admissions office and she said my application was complete and that the transcript not being there yet wouldn't keep my application from getting reviewed. I don't know if my status on the website will change from "incomplete" to "complete" but she said it was complete so I'm guessing that's OK.

My application never said complete even though I new all the items were in, so I called and was told that everything shows as "complete" on their end. Good enough for me :) I wonder why some of us had this problem and not others? hmm...

I don't know--I was thinking I had that problem because of my transcript for my class that isn't over yet, but I'm not sure what else it could be. If she said it's complete though I feel like I can officially wait for an email from them...and hopefully a good one!

I am going to be so nervous waiting for that email! Also, I am worried because the person who posted the Interview Days said they are the 29th, the 1st, and the 5th? I will be out of the country on the 29th and the 1st..so hopefully I will be able to get the 5th if I get an interview!!

Hi everyone! I applied for Spring also!! Thanks for letting us know when Duke days are. They seem really late, I was under the impression they were going to be mid-july, not end of! Did admissions give any hint on how many people have applied already? I'm hoping it's not like Fall 2011 where there was over 400 applicants!

So, she did not give exact numbers, but DID say that spring was not as competitive as fall (from a numbers perspective) just due to the mere fact that most programs begin in the fall, so they see the most applications at that time :D I *believe* last spring, they had just over 200 applicants, and kind of 'over-accepted', and ended up with a class of 93, which is too large. They have lost a few and are down to 86 now. I think they are looking for a class around 66, or so?

I think they are shooting for about 150 interview invites....I could be making that up, but fairly certain I was told they are looking at 50 prospective students per Duke Day. Oh, and you can choose the Duke Day and they are not mandatory...some people live far away and either their schedule or financial situation won't allow them to participate. So, they will do an interview over the phone or via Skype, if needed.

The Duke Days sound really fun though. In addition to the two interviews, they have tours set up and you get to see the simulation lab in motion....which is really cool. Plus, there will be current students wandering around to talk to :yeah:

Application submitted and complete. Now the wait begins.... Good Luck everyone!

Hey guys, I'm not applying to Duke anymore:( I bombed the GRE:(

Good luck to you all!!!

Sorry, Carshell :crying2: Are you going to retake and apply for fall?

Thanks for all the Duke Days info! Sounds exciting and can't wait, fingers crossed.

Definitely going to the Duke Days. Thanks for all of that good information, flyhi!
