Hi all!
Just wanted to start a thread for the people applying to duke for the fall of 2012. I am super excited/nervous to be filling out the application! I know that there are others out there feeling the same way. If anybody is willing to comment I would love to hear from some people who have applied, accepted or denied, or applying right now, or even going to apply in the future. :)
Hey guys! Is everyone getting excited about interviews? I can't believe we are just about a week away! For people interviewing on Friday - did you ever get more info via email or was the first email just it? I thought when we RSVP-ed it said something about receiving more info before our Duke Day, but maybe I'm making that up (I go on the 30th). At this point, I'm just trying to stay more excited than nervous! :)
Hey Moggsy!
I was wondering the same thing! It would be helpful to receive some sort of official itinerary / address of meeting location / time to arrive and any other pertinent details soon. I will be flying out there in just a couple of days to interview next Friday and am getting pretty excited. I may just email Duke SON on Monday and ask for more information. Good luck to you all!
Maybe they're even planning to send something out on Monday and we're jumping the gun... but more details would be nice! I remember the building pretty well from the info session, so I guess that is helpful. Onto a "fun" topic - what is everybody planning to wear? I am going the suit + heels route to feel extra fancy, ha ha. The building was so nice so I feel like dressing up is definitely appropriate.
I received the email today outlining the schedule. Has anyone asked about the group interview? Sure enough, there is a time slot for a personal interview with faculty as well as a time slot for the group interview. I am contemplating calling M to ask her, but don't want to overwhelm her with calls if someone here already knows and can share. I am interviewing on the 30th...hope to meet some of you then!
I got the email today too, looks like it will be a long day but I am excited! I don't know what the group interview entails...seems like it will be another chance for them to get to know us and see how we work in a "team" setting. If you do call, let us know what M says, I'm interested to know what exactly a group interview is! I will be there on the 30th as well, I really hope I'm in one of the earlier interview groups as I know I'll be anxious all day if I have to wait until the afternoon! Hope to see some of you on Monday, and good luck to those interviewing on Friday...tell us how it goes!
About the group interview - according to the people who interviewed last summer (the first time they had the group interview at Duke Days), you get asked a question by two faculty people and then you all take turns answering the question. Then you do an activity together that requires you to work as a group. Doesn't sound too bad... fingers crossed.
I am also hoping to be in either Group A or B so I won't have to wait all day to interview, ha ha. I would rather get it over with... who's excited about riding the shuttle bus for the tour? Sounds fun!
Looking forward to meeting everybody on Monday. I will be there by myself so I will keep an eye out for y'all. To everybody interviewing on Friday - kick some ass!
Does anyone from Friday's group want to give a tiny update of how the day went? You don't have to give us details or reveal any info but it would be nice to hear a little something. :) Did you hear a lot of the same things that were told at the info session? I'm wondering if we'll get the same PowerPoint again...
I'm kind of hoping to get to see the PowerPoint because I couldn't make it out from Dallas for the information session. Moggsy- I just went back to read the thread history...thanks for all of the great updates; you've shared a lot of great info. Hope to get to meet you tomorrow! I'll be there early so I won't be late!
