Hi all!
Just wanted to start a thread for the people applying to duke for the fall of 2012. I am super excited/nervous to be filling out the application! I know that there are others out there feeling the same way. If anybody is willing to comment I would love to hear from some people who have applied, accepted or denied, or applying right now, or even going to apply in the future. :)
First-rounders have until April 2nd to accept or decline; notification date for second round is supposed to be April 9th.The folks in the FB group *have* officially accepted Duke's offer (M. sends you a link to the group after you turn in your acceptance)....but still, we're past the middle of the month and 25 people is only about 1/3 the class size they're aiming for. Seems like a hopeful sign for second-rounders. Hang in there you guys!
Ahh, I didn't know. Thanks for clarifying. :)
I was really disappointed with the financial aid package I received, so I got in touch with the financial aid offices. The extremely nice lady in financial aid told me to even be elligible for financial aid, your parent contribution has to be $0 and your expected family contribution has to be less than $5,000.. so you pretty much have to be indepedent of your parents and you have to have made next to nothing over the course of last year. That's just super disappointing for people like myself, who worked our butts off last year and are essentially being punished through financial aid for it
ironic, don't ya think?

Wow. So for those earning an incoming its either private loans, savings or a combination of both?
Why, Duke, why? :(
dancergirl, I saw that you got into GWU - congrats! What a relief! :) Out of curiosity, how do you think the school compares to Duke?
I agree about April 9th... although I feel like more waiting will probably be in my future, so I better get used to it. I still can't believe some people found out in February and have been sitting pretty ever since! I feel like I'm in a constant state of anxiety, ha ha. Some days are better than others. :)
Seriously girl, I'm with you... it's all or nothing at this point. Every time someone writes and has gotten into another school in my head I'm like GO THERE AND GIVE YOUR SPOT TO THE SECOND ROUND but... you guys seem great and in the end I want us to be classmates. At Duke. So I just have to live with my inner turmoil. Ha ha!
