DUKE ABSN Fall 2012

Published

Hi all!

Just wanted to start a thread for the people applying to duke for the fall of 2012. I am super excited/nervous to be filling out the application! I know that there are others out there feeling the same way. If anybody is willing to comment I would love to hear from some people who have applied, accepted or denied, or applying right now, or even going to apply in the future. :)

I don't think there was a specific date....and there was nothing about it in the admission offer...she just said we'd have "a couple weeks" to review the packages before our decisions are due (at the beginning of April). So maybe next week?

I emailed the Financial Aid office, and they said sometime before March 16

great! Thanks, Rosie!

Thanks, guys! Just wondering if financial aid packages will be a game changer for anybody... hoping it will work in the second round's favor ha ha, but that is pretty selfish. :) I hope everybody is hanging in there.

I hope you get in moggsy! More waiting is maddening, but it does seem reasonable to think you've got a good shot if Duke is what you really want....tons of second-rounders got in despite a high number of applications last year. Ya gotta figure that a lot of first-round students are weighing other offers, and a lot of second-rounders also get other offers and drop off the wait list.

I'd love to know what percentage of first-round offers actually lead to acceptance and enrollment, but I suppose it's one of those carefully guarded admissions-office secrets. Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks so much, laflaca... Yes, I am digging my heels in and waiting it out for as long as it takes! Ha ha, you don't even know how many times my family and I have talked about everything in your post... we have the same convo over and over again. Here's to hoping that more lucrative offers come in for the first rounders (;)) and that the May start for a lot of schools slims down the second round. I would also love to know percentages, but all that info is probably under lock and key.

Sometimes stubbornness pays off :)

I just got into Vanderbilt, but I have to send in my deposit a week before we hear back from Duke. So annoying, I really love Duke!

Congrats Mellzie!! Even though Vanderbilt might not be your top choice school, I would recommend sending in that deposit just to guarantee yourself a spot SOMEWHERE! If Duke pulls through eventually you can always go! When does the Vanderbilt program start?

The Vanderbilt program starts the week before the Duke program starts. I am hoping to visit Vandy in a couple weeks then decide if I want to put down my deposit.

Congrats, mellzie! Are the two programs comparable in cost? Nashville would be a really nice place to live, I think - I'm sure it will be fun to visit.
