DUKE ABSN Fall 2012

Hi all!

Just wanted to start a thread for the people applying to duke for the fall of 2012. I am super excited/nervous to be filling out the application! I know that there are others out there feeling the same way. If anybody is willing to comment I would love to hear from some people who have applied, accepted or denied, or applying right now, or even going to apply in the future. :)

Seriously, guys... if I had a dollar for every time I checked my email today, I would be swimming in greenbacks by now! If you had told me a week ago that we would still be waiting now, I wouldn't have believed you. Fingers crossed that it really IS tomorrow.

They said definitely by email...I'm hoping it is early in the day. I'm going to be in class all morning and then I have to go to work, but should have access to email for the majority of the day. So stressful!!!!

Congrats Rosie! I was shocked to see the emails out at 8am this morning, unfortunately not so good news for me, I've been second rounded which means they'll be stringing me along for at least another month and a half. UGH sorry to be a downer, congrats to all of you that got accepted!!!!!

Edited to add - guys, let's not give up. While I'm so upset that we're getting strung along for another billion years, it can work out. I recently met someone who got in literally 3-4 weeks before classes started. I'm going to write to that person and get some advice.

Well..your good company just grew! I'm on the wait list as well, and really bummed! The program that I got into starts in May, so I don't have much time to wait and hear! Congrats to everyone who was accepted! Keep us all posted if you decide on a different school.

Do we know if anyone actually gets rejected? Or is it if you aren't given admission today you are just put into second round automatically?

I think everyone gets second rounded then wait list and then they are either pulled off it or not. That's what I gathered from the Duke Day.

(Cross-posted with mellzie) - I have no idea if they flat out reject anyone right away. I'm pretty sure we just hang on now until they release the waitlist in April. Then you decide if it's worth staying on it or not depending on what # you are. A ton of people on this board got second rounded last year, and a lot of people who got in ended up giving up their spots when they saw the $$ situation (i.e. ~100k in loans, if I'm remembering correctly from last year). It is a slow, painful process... at least we can keep each other company! :)
