Drug tests

Nurses General Nursing

I recently had a D&C on Sunday because I had a miscarriage. I was given general anesthesia which consisted of versed, diprivan, and some pain medication. I take a drug test on August 8th. Do I need to bring my medical records from the hospital to show I had surgery and was given these medications? I didn't even fill my prescrption for pain medication. I have just been getting by with advil. Thank you for the help.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Have you looked up the half life information on the drugs you received in your drug guide?

Thank you for all the suggestions. It has been a very stressful time. Not much sympathy as well. I know people think I should be ok because I wasn't far along and I'm older, 41, and have other children, but I'm sad. Add all the physical pain and feeling bad on top of emotional stuff, and I'm just lost. I really don't know what to do, how to handle all my feelings. What makes it hard, is that I feel like I don't have any support, you know, someone to cry to or listen to me. My heart is kinda broken and I just want to heal. Thank you for the support here, I would be lost without you.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I went through a missed miscarriage/D&C a few years ago, and I was shocked at how very cruel some of my nurse coworkers (in OB, no less!) were. It certainly showed me who my friends were. A few of them even expressed doubts that I was ever really pregnant (in spite of showing up in the unit, hemorrhaging).

Hang in there, and don't be afraid to grieve.
