I recently had a D&C on Sunday because I had a miscarriage. I was given general anesthesia which consisted of versed, diprivan, and some pain medication. I take a drug test on August 8th. Do I need to bring my medical records from the hospital to show I had surgery and was given these medications? I didn't even fill my prescrption for pain medication. I have just been getting by with advil. Thank you for the help.

When I've had a drug test for DOT, I had an area where to list my doctor's number for them to call for any questions. If you are that worried, have a release of info form filled out for your OB/GYN and the anesthesiologist. Then ask when you do your test what the procedure is. It shouldn't be a big deal.

I'd recommend taking the info with you since you'll pop + for benzos because of the versed.

I take an occasional antianxiety medication. When I went for the employment physical, I listed that medication as well as bringing in the medicine bottle...When I went to the lab, they did not want any anything except my specimen...A physician called me when the medication came up on my results...He just wanted to verify what I was on & then he called my pharmacy to verify that I, in fact, did have a valid RX....The physician then marked my drug test as negative..
I am so sorry for your loss..May God Bless you through this stressful time..

Yes-what Montecarlo said. The MD from the lab just called and asked where I got my Adderall filled-that was it. So very sorry for your loss.
The thing is is that I had surgery and i received drugs during surgery and I
didn't have a prescription so I don't know what to do. Should i ask occupational nurse what to do?

I am so, so sorry for your loss.
I was in a similar situation a few years ago, and had the discharge nurse write the name of the drugs given to me on the discharge papers. I took it with me to the Occ. Health clinic and they made a copy of it. I never heard back about a positive test and was hired by the facility.

Can you ask the hospital to fax you a copy of the OR record showing the date, and meds given? Hopefully, they will give you a break, and at worst just ask you to do a make up drug screen, but it'd be good to have a copy if it becomes an issue.

I would wait until you find out if anything shows up on your test. It may be negative with that much time in between the surgery and the test. If it does come up positive, it would be pretty easy for them to verify what you received. Give them the name and number of the physician that did the surgery. Their office should have access to the info, and can give it to the person who is interpreting the test results. You also could get a copy of your records from that day to verify it.
I suspect it won't even show up, so I wouldn't worry too much ahead of time. You obviously didn't take anything illegally, and this will be easy to prove.

Call the facility that is requiring the drug test what needs to be done. No need to discuss the miscarriage, just say that you had a surgical procedure and got meds for it - do they need to be reported.
Honestly, the vast majority of procedural meds/doses used, clear the system within a few days at latest. I have had drug tests done within 24-72 hrs of procedures with sedation, and had them never show up on the screen. I actually had a colonoscopy with dilaudid, sedation and compazine, while dehydrated, and had my drug screen within 30 hrs and it was negative.
