I have another problem

Order: Ancef 500mg IV q 6h

Supply: Anceg 1g

Directions: Reconstitute with 2.5mL diluent to yield 3mL = 330mg/mL

Give:_____ :rotfl:

Man..........I just passed my dosage calc test today and da%! if I can answer that.

Maybe it just needs to be worded a different way??:stone :rotfl:

1500 divided by 330=4.545454.....or 4.5cc

So the dose is 500mg and on hand you have 330mg/ml. You put dose over stock, that is 500mg over 330mg and multiply it by the vehicle(ml). 500 divided by 330 is 1.5 so you would give 1.5ml of the Ancef.

1.5 ml That is what I came up with as well. D/S works so much easier for me.

Ok, I get it now. What is hard for me (but I just started with all this) is figuring out what information I need and what info I can leave out of the calc. It is so simple after you figure out that half of it you don't need to do the math.....:chuckle
