no dr's order

1 - do u give meds with no dr's order in camp?

We given over the counter meds with parental permission, all the meds we stock are listed on the consent form and parents must indicate which ones they do not want given at the nurses judgement. Perscription meds must go through the contracted pharmacy. We will accept meds in bottles with the pharmacy label intact.

2 - such as meds in zip bag ... ?

3 - what about over the counter meds ... if kids bring in those meds ... do u give them?

Some kids insist on their particular brand or flavor of medication, if sent we will give them.

4 - when u kinda guess that what meds they are based on ur searches online of the the shapes they are in and/or that u call and confirm with parents? ...

I would need a phone call to the parent confirming what drug it is and how they want it dispensed. A google search is helpful but not reasonable proof for me. I would then document that phone call and appropriately label the medications.

5 - Are searches online enuf to give meds to students without dr's orders? ...

6 - What meds u won't give without dr's order?

Over the counter medswith parental permission and suplaments.

7 - what about birth control pills? ... if it doesn't come in the labeled bottle, of course with no dr's orders, and u can't confirm with parents because it's a sensitive issue that law prevents u from disclosing with proper authorization from the child, what would u do?

There is no such law in my state of practice. Again all perscription meds should have the original label on them.

8 - what about psych meds...? what do u do with those?

I give them, as ordered.
