Anyone out there has applied or is applying to the ACE class beginning Spring 2011? Anyone waiting to hear from admissions for now?

Hey it's ME the OP! Guess who just got an acceptance???? :anpom:

Overwhelmed and relieved ... like I just finished a marathon :D

BUT I have things to think about, as I MAY have to defer my entry to Fall 2011. Lots has happened since I first applied and my circumstances may be keeping me working through May, so this may work out better for me. I did inquire into this possibility a while back and was told I could defer once up to a year.

Been reading up on housing @ Stiles, can anyone offer info on rates?? The site and the boards are sketchy on this info and it sounds like somewhere I could be very happy for 11 months!

So we shall see ... I am VERY interested in Drexel of course! So the new chapter in my life begins ...

:ancong!: to everyone else accepted and GOOD LUCK to those waiting!

Here's the link to Stiles Hall's information. You can actually poke around the site, it will answer some of your questions.

Hi Everyone!

I am accepted for the Spring 2011 start and very excited but NERVOUS! Anyone already been through the program or currently in that can share any inside info? I would love to be in touch with people beginning the program so we can learn together! I am currently completing my last three classes at CCP - Nutrition, Chem, and Micro.... UGH-- can't wait to just start the 11 months already!!

Anyone planning to start Spring 2011?

Congrats to everyone! :yeah:

Hey everyone! I also got accepted and will be starting the ACE program in spring 2011. I went to the information meeting last month and I am so nervous and excited to start. I will be taking the train from Lansdale...so let me know if anyone is taking the train. I would also like to get to know people that will be starting in the spring...I know we will need a study group!

Congrats to everyone accepted!

Congrats to everyone on their acceptance!!!

I look foward to meeting you all come spring :)

Thank you very much emcarder. I will look into those areas.

I am from Los Angeles, Ca.

Hi EMM, I am from the LA area too. I actually live in Moorpark, CA. I'm also really unsure of the housing/transportation. Everyone has said University City and Center City are the best places to look. I really hope to find reasonable rent in Center City. I'm going out to Philly mid September to check everything out. Anyone want to meet up? I'm taking a main campus tour and maybe meet with someone at the Center City campus if it works out.

Hi all! I have also been accepted to the Spring 2011 term :)

Does anyone know how many students are accepted into the spring class? Also where the clinicals are completed?

Thanks!

I just got my acceptance letter for ACE Spring 2011 today. I've been working on getting accepted to this program since Spring 2010 and was rejected twice before I made it.

The thing is... Now I'm not even sure I want to go. :( I made a pretty good plan B involving my community college. I've already been accepted to their ASN program for Fall 2010 and was planning on completing my ASN and getting my RN through them, and then upgrading through online courses to a BSN while working.

While I'm obviously drawn to the speed of the program and the prestige of a BSN, I know the program can be a serious killer and it's not cheap. While everyone who knows me says I can absolutely do it, it's still a lot lot lot of money and a lot of stress. I don't mind giving up my life for 11 months to achieve my dream of becoming a nurse but after talking to some friends in the program I have some serious reservations.

I have 60 days to decide and pay my deposit. I figure I'll start my clinicals in my community college program and try stuff out there a bit and just... See.

I have to admit, I'm upset that this isn't a more exciting day for me, since I worked so, so hard to get in to the program despite my crap undergrad GPA (I redeemed myself admirably in my prereqs though).

Anyone else feeling a little on the fence about accepting their admissions offer?

Yes, I've been on the fence too, since there's been an issue with my prereqs. I've paid my deposit, but I'm still uncertain as to whether or not I'll actually attend next year, since I'm not positive than I can complete the remaining prereqs in time. We'll see. I'm applying to Jefferson for back-up.

I'm also hesitant about paying $40k for this program, but I'm not happy in corporate America and would prefer not to sit at a desk for the rest of my working life. The outlook for RNs without a BSN is pretty bleak, so going for an ASN is out of the question for me.

I want to go, really badly. I am wanting to defer until the fall as I know I will not be ready to relocate by March. The price tag however is keeping me from making a full commitment. I am concerned that I will be unable to secure enough financial aid to go through the program. Private loans unfortunately are out of the question for me, I am pretty sure I will be unable to get any of those. Outside of federal Stafford Loans, I don't know what else to do :(

I've read that clinicals can be as far as 1+ hours away (Delaware and all over Philadelphia)
