Hello all,
I just received a letter from Drexel saying that my application for the ACE program is now complete and I'm waiting for a response. I was wondering if anyone else here is applying for the same program and received an acceptance letter already? I'm trying to be patient but I wish I knew how long it will take...
Thanks CocoBelly! It still doesn't seem real yet :) I'm glad your bookstore mystery was solved!
toya, unless something has changed, ACE students should be eligible for a Perkins loan, though I guess it depends on individual circumstances. I think mine was $2,400. Here's some info on the Perkins loan. http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/students/english/campusaid.jsp
Drexel's is a quicker program at 11 months vs 14 and the cost is comparable at approx 33k (ish). As far as I know, and as a Philly suburb resident, both schools are at approximately the same level in terms of their academic respect (though I could wrong there). No testing and no essays were required for my Drexel acceptance! Here are links so you can take other factors into consideration.

Thanks sandiego! I'm leaning toward Drexel so I don't know if I should bother with the interview at villanova. Anyway... If anyone is looking for a room mate, contact me! [email protected]
I've also been accepted to Drexel's spring 2010 class. I wanted to know, are there any moms out there? I am having second thoughts about the program because I will be in the program with two young children. I am trying to figure out what will be the best arrangement for them. I've been at home with them during the day and my husband watches them at night. I am thinking maybe he should find an evening job and watch them during the day while I go to school or put them in day care (which I'm not a fan of). Should I go to LaSalle's part time program instead ( it's 2 1/2 years)
I don't know..... any other moms out there thinking the same things? Would also love to hear from moms that are in or have completed the program. Thanks.

Hi joujoubee, I'm to in a similar situation because I have a 4-year old and was also in an toss up between Drexel and Lasalle's achieve program. I finally decided on drexel mainly because of the short time frame and the high NCLEX pass rate. I am due to start March of 2010. I've heard stories of many parents of small children at home and made it through the ace program just fine. A good thing is that you have your husband that will be a great support system for you. I really think ace is the way to go! Good Luck!
Hi - I know I have to wait to hear back , but I am wondering what the experiences have been with how easily Drexel accepted courses you had taken for the prerequisities? I have been reading the boards and I had not read complaints that Drexel was overly picky. Did you find that Drexel generally accepted most of the courses you had already taken if they were similar to the description. For example, I have an English Course- Advanced Writing and assume it would count for English Composition or that a business and marketing communications course would count for the communication course?

Thanks Toya. I am so happy that there are other moms in the spring 2010 class. I am leaning more towards Drexel because of the length of the program as well. The 2 1/2 years with LaSalle won't be much fun either, so we might as well get it over it. Hopefully, when March comes along, we'll meet other moms and that'll be extra support as well.
I am a Drexel graduate. Before you begin the program at Drexel, please get all information regarding the high pass score (87/950) on the required exit HESI exam.
Although Drexel boasts 100% pass rates on their boards, they neglect to tell you that if you do not get the required exit
score they can legally withhold your diploma and the right to sit for the state boards.
If you fail two attempts (which is not unusual) you are required to take an additional
course for $2,000. I know Villanova does not have that policy, but I do not know
the policy at LaSalle. There are many threads about the HESI on the boards. Most
schools require an 850, so Drexel's requirement is very high. It is very stressful to
think that one test can hold you back from your dream of becoming a nurse.
That's a good question for you to ask administration. I have a friend who took the course and it is a semester.
A nursing three credit course is $1700, so I don't know why this course is more. The problem is, she was
offered a job at a prestigious Philadelphia hospital based on her graduation date and she had to notify them that she did not
pass the exit test and did not graduate!! Talk about an embarrassing way to start your career. Well, anyway, the
hospital did not hold her job and she now has no job and no benefits, and in today's economy that is significant!
