Hi!

I was wondering if anyone has been through 's ACE program-if they recommend it, enjoyed it, any info at all would be great! (I've been accepted for the fall '07 semester and am still debating whether to go or not)

thank you!

Specializes in NICU.

I just went shopping at Old Navy and Gap. That is about as dressy as I get. LOL.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and i found all of your information very helpful. Im currently a junior at lasalle for my Bachelor's in Health Science (originally Nursing, but my GPA was not high enough so i didnt make it). I'm really glad I found out about the ACE program, and as of now that is my Plan A after i graduate from lasalle in may 2009. i have been doing some research on what prereqs i need, financial issues, etc, but I am confused as to WHEN im supposed to be applying for the fall session. can anyone help me out?

thanks so much,

jojo

i BELIEVE its somewhere around october? i know i had found out in november that i was definitly in for the following september class. you can contact the school and theyll tell you.

Hi,

I will be starting the Ace program at the end of March and I am both excited and nervous. I was just wondering if anybody that has gone through the program can give me an idea of what I am in for?

Will I be told at the Orientation (mid-march) what I need to buy (scrubs, books, etc) or should I already have that stuff?

How organized, helpful are the teachers? Is there alot of help if you need it?

How are the clinicals? Do they really try to keep the clinicals near where you live?

Any info is much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!!

hi - i just finished the program. The orientation they will give you your book list - theyll prob send you something a few weeks beforehand about what scrubs to get b/c your lab coat gets your name embroidered and takes a couple weeks.

FYI - theyll tell you you need navy blue scrub pants ( any) and drexels scrub top is yellow and has navy blue embroidery with the logo and the words BSN student, and the white lab coat with the drexel patch - the place you order them is in center city - if you'd like to order them sooner (and avoid the mad rush) let me know and i can look up the name for you - if you know your sizes you can do it over the phone. All you have to tell them is you are in ACE and theyll know exactly what you need. The other things you have to buy from the scrub shop is a nametag, a penlight, and theyre going to tell you to buy plastic goggles - dont let them talk you into it mine are still in the original plastic. You dont need anything pre-orientation.

Most teachers are great, some better than others. They are pretty organized and helpful - they know that the lives of ACE students are crazy so they try to work with you with what you need.

Clinicals are just....clinicals. Incredibly early. but thats life as a nurse i guess. They do say they TRY to make them as close to your zip code as possible, i had no complaints mine were south jersey and philly (im from SJ). But there was always someone that got a random assignment out in the boonies. They do try to make it doable, but forget ever asking to be switched etc. Where you are is where you are, they act like its law.

any more ?'s let me know!

Thank you so much for your reply! You were very helpful. If you have the phone number or website of that place to order the scrub top and lab coat, could you send it along? Thank you so much.

Was it easy to find a job? And Congrats on finishing!!!!

the website of the place kinda sucks - but they do have a tab that says ace to look at . its centraluniforms.com. the phone number is listed on the page.

hello everyone,

I was just wondering about the gpa needed to get into the program, I know they say all you need is a 2.75 but I'm still kind of nervous cause I only have a 2.8, can I still get accepted with this gpa, also do you feel the program helped you get ready to pass the boards?

Yea you dont need a stellar GPA to get in...i belive mine was 2.95 and it wasnt an issue. they just care that u have ur pre=reqs done

k8dubcoran,

Not sure if you still check the email this will go to. Thank you for all of your posts on this website, they have been helpful.

I have four questions, I'm hoping you can perhaps answer..

I was accepted for ACE for fall 2009, and I'm worried about the course load, I've never taken 21-units at once.. Did you feel the program was organized enough, that it was (tough) but do-able..?

I've heard a lot of students drop out, do you think it's because the load is too heave/ or because they can't pass the class..? It's such a huge financial investment, I want to be sure I'm chosing the best prgm for me..

As for exams, do you feel that all instructors give fair exams.. (do you get class avg's after exams)?

Lastly, about GPA during the program, do you think most people were able to graduate with over a 3.0 GPA, or does it seem like most barely pass their classes? (I'm asking b/c I want to eventually apply to a master's program, most of the ones I'm interested in, require at least a 3.2 undergrad GPA -hence I'd have to do at least that well during the ACE program).

Thanks so much for you time and help, I REALLy appeciate it.

Hello k8,

I just read your old posts from when you were a student in 2007--I am hoping to get in touch with you as I have a few q's. Could I ask what your education background was before you went to ? Where did you stay--on campus or in an apt? How did you study for your NCLEX and how many classes did you fail so that you would have to repeatedly pay again for them...? Are you ok with blood and gore now? I almost faint at the site of blood on another or myself. Also, what area of nursing are you in...and have you done in certifications so that you could specialize?...if you don't like hospitals, what are the other options for a nurse other than teaching?

Thanks so much, PLH
