Drexel ACE Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey allnurses community! I noticed a group wasn't yet in existence for this cohort, and I was eager to connect with my potential future classmates. The priority deadline for applying to the fall 2017 cohort is October 15th. I received an email that my application status was complete on September 15th. The only thing I need to still finish is to CLEP Human Growth and Development. I plan to take the exam early October, and send my scores to ASAP. I am currently in a BSN program that I started this month, and my expected graduation date is Dec 2018. It is normally a 3 year program, but I entered already having a B.S. (which is not required at my current program) and many of my classes transferred in. I would love to be done with school sooner rather than later, and have always been attracted to the ACE 11 month program (and Philly!). Being that I would graduate fall of 2018 and from a renown program such as Drexel's, would be so great. I am so eager to hear back! After stalking the fall 2016 group, it seemed that the first people heard back at the end of October. I figured it would be easier for all of us applicants to deal with the waiting game together, so please don't hesitate to post if you've applied or plan to apply for this cohort!

Hey congrats on your acceptance!

When did you find out?

I applied pretty recently so I missed the priority deadline. We'll see though!

I also found it appealing to have the opportunity to work while in the program; that's what I'll be doing :)

Hi Winona and thanks!

I had most of my stuff in by the priority deadline, but ended up having to track down, I kid you not, a transcript from a college I never actually attended but got nongraded credits for *drumroll* summer band camp before I started my undergrad. (It's ok to snicker about band camp. I was a band nerd and it helped me pay for my first 2 years of undergrad. ;) )

I think it was that last transcript that delayed my notification.

Are you already in Philly?

As it turns out I will still be completing the last part of my national health service corps loan repayment agreement for my LCSW student loans (thank you all for your tax dollars, and TOTALLY encourage everyone to check out the NHSC programs including nurse corps scholarships and loan repayment programs), and doing some private practice therapy while I'm going through the program. My ultimate goal, that according to my earliest bloggings started way back in 2009 (!) is to complete the MSN in psychMH.

Hey guys! I was just accepted into the program which is awesome because it is my first choice! I was hoping to make a facebook group but I cant unless I add at least one friend! So if anyone is comfortable letting me know your name I will try to get it started! :) Good luck to everyone applying!

Hi Lexie.

You can find me on FB under Nugget's Human

Hii!! I was unable to attend the info session, any information would be great!! Thanks!! Has anyone applied for the scholarship and financial aid? Will we hear back to them on out financial package before deciding on attending and paying the deposit? I am still waiting for another school to release their decision, hopefully I'll hear back soon, because I need to let know very soon!

Hey NuggetsHuman!

I was in orchestra for a bit when I was younger.. not the same as band camp, but hey, instruments rule!

It's good you got everything sorted out... waiting for transcripts can be daunting.

I'm in Philly... well I work in Philly and live in Hill which isn't far at all, so I'll probably stay there while in school. I am definitely considering the NHSC, that's so great you have it! It would help with expenses!

I'm another 24 month person. I had been accepted to the 11 month program, ran into issues with my immunizations (make sure you start that ASAP - My Hep-B vaccine was no longer effective and that immunization is a 3 month process). I had to defer until my immunizations were complete. Then we ran into some family issues during which my husband and I also decided that the 24 month program worked better for us (we get our health issuance through my job, plus a mortgage and such). So now I've reapplied to the 24 month program, but am nervous because it has fewer seats and is growing in popularity (I spoke to the Dean of transfer admissions at an open house).

Also, I'm a long time Philly resident, so if anyone who will be moving here has questions, I'm happy to help.

Oh, and I played trombone in marching band, wind ensemble and jazz band. Is band geekiness in nursing a thing?

congrats to everyone who has been accepted! Does anyone know the schedule or timings for classes in the 24 month ace program? Are they every evening/weekend?

I was wondering that as well. What it looks like in the current course offerings is T/Th, Sat/Sun. I'm not sure how much of that is either/or and how much might be on line vs. in person. I was going to email the person they made my advisor soon to get more info so I can start shaping my client appointments that direction through attrition rather than having to move a bunch of people all at once.

I asked Fran but she hasn't replied to me yet. I'm in the same boat, I need to let work know and actually see if I have move. Does anyone know someone who has taken the 24 month program before?

Hmmmm your username suggests temple!!!! Im in the 24 month program as well!

Hi guys! I just received my acceptance letter for the 11mo cohort that starts Fall 2017! I am so excited! Does anyone know people that have been through this program and what their opinion about it was? I know the workload will be intense but it seems doable! I currently work at CHOP and was wondering if it is possible to work part time with the course work. Any advice would be great!

Hi all!

I was also accepted for the 24 month program! If anyone does end up finding the times/days for the night classes then I would greatly appreciate any information as I will be moving to Philadelphia and would like to start looking for a job. I'm emailing my advisor also, so I'll let you all know what I find out as well! Can't wait to meet everyone.
