Hey allnurses community! I noticed a group wasn't yet in existence for this cohort, and I was eager to connect with my potential future classmates. The priority deadline for applying to the fall 2017 cohort is October 15th. I received an email that my application status was complete on September 15th. The only thing I need to still finish is to CLEP Human Growth and Development. I plan to take the exam early October, and send my scores to Drexel ASAP. I am currently in a BSN program that I started this month, and my expected graduation date is Dec 2018. It is normally a 3 year program, but I entered already having a B.S. (which is not required at my current program) and many of my classes transferred in. I would love to be done with school sooner rather than later, and have always been attracted to the ACE 11 month program (and Philly!). Being that I would graduate fall of 2018 and from a renown program such as Drexel's, would be so great. I am so eager to hear back! After stalking the fall 2016 group, it seemed that the first people heard back at the end of October. I figured it would be easier for all of us applicants to deal with the waiting game together, so please don't hesitate to post if you've applied or plan to apply for this cohort!
Hi everyone! I start the 11 month ACE program this April and I read the handbook and the instructions that we weren't able to miss any clinical days and if we do we have to pay $200 and make it up and I understand why these policies are in place. But my fiance will be graduating from Coast Guard Boot Camp in May on a Friday and in the event that we have clinical that day, I just want to know is it really that strict if I miss that clinical? I don't plan on missing any other days and I am fully committed to the program, I just really don't want to miss his graduation and it makes me upset thinking that I might miss his graduation because I'll be in school. Any help/advice/opinions on this is welcome!
Hey- they really are obnoxiously strict about clinical. If you miss the two hundred goes toward your makeup because they have to hire actors and stuff to run simulations because you're missing hands on time with patients. Everybody who misses goes together and instead of it being your usual 4 hour first q clinical it's the full 7 hours that the q 2,3 and 4 students have to make up. It's a massive pain. They tend to schedule the makeup on a Saturday from what I understand. Hopefully you'll get a different day! I have a classmate that is very religious and a holiday fell on her clinical. She had to have a letter from her rabbi on synagogue stationary before they would let her miss without paying for the makeup. She still had to make it up but she didn't have to pay. I know this isn't super helpful and definitely not what what you want to hear but congrats on getting in!! I'm starting Q2 on Monday- you'll be great!
