Drexel ACE 24 Fall 2014 (new program)

Published

Hi All,

I'm just starting this topic to bounce ideas and opinions about this new program: Drexel ACE 24 (24 month program) that will have its first cohort for Fall 2014. Anyone who knows more about it please share.

Thanks,

Musing 2014

I got an e-mail about this because I'm on the wait list for the Fall 2014 11-month program. It is a 24-month program run in 8 consecutive 10-week terms. The program is run nights and weekends, and has both classroom and online components. All of the admissions criteria for the 11-month program apply to this program. The admissions office will begin reviewing applications in May. Hope this helps at least a little bit.

Thanks LearninginNJ. My concern is that if I express a willingness to apply to this program, Drexel will have less incentive to take me off the wait list for the 11 month program. So I'm undecided about what to do at the moment...

I have the same concern, and I'm sure a lot of others do, too. When I contacted Evan Williams I asked that question, but he hasn't answered it, yet. He did send an e-mail that he is going to try to get a fact sheet out later this week that answers some of the questions people had. A classmate in one of the classes I have right now gave me some perspective on it. She said that if you start the ACE-24 in the fall, you will still finish at the same time as if you started in the March cohort.

I checked on this. If you express interest in the new ACE-24 you will remain on the wait list for the 11-month program. I assume it's because this program only has 24 slots open for the pilot.

Thanks for all this info! Much appreciated.

Hi all,

I was just given this information as well. I do not see it as a terrible idea. It gives you the flexibility to still work and take care of family if you have one. Yes, its longer, but if you don't get into the fall semester...you would only finish a few months later , if you started in Spring 2015 which I hear starts in April. Has anyone been accepted or have their application reviewed for this?

Hi all,

I have also been waitlisted for this fall and did reapply this spring. I received an email from Evan a couple of days ago and I am seriously considering this 24 option. They won't start reviewing apps until May? I did email Evan back stating that I was interested in having my application be reviewed for this program. Has he responded to anyone else who has emailed him back expressing their interest?

Thanks!

hi rkt49.....I emailed and called him expressing that I was interested as well.....he said it would be a one or two weeknights per week class, with either online or in person class and then clinicals would be sat and sun.....doesn't sound too horrible ...ppl can still work and take care of their fam.....he also stated that we should hear back by end of may....hopefully sooner....they only have 24 slots.....so....

But, I haven't heard back from him since I replied to the email. He said they were keeping track of people replying....and they will choose from the top candidates on the wait list.

Hey bluebell2014,

thanks for the info! Did you receive the email he sent out tonight:

1. I was wondering what the class schedule would look like for this ACE 24 program. As in the frequency of class and what would be involved during the weekends? *Please see a sample curriculum attached. The 1st Quarter will feature two online courses, and one on campus course (Pathophysiology). This on campus course will be a two hour evening course, held on a weekday. After the first quarter, you will have a maximum of one online course, and 1-2 on campus courses per term (weekday evening courses). Clinicals will be held once per week during the weekend. Please note, as this is a pilot program, the attached curriculum is subject to change.

2. Are the weekend hours at night or during the day? Saturday and Sunday?

Clinicals will be held one day a week during the weekend. Times and days may change depending on the hours available at each clinical site.

3. How does the cost compare with the 11 month?

This program has the same tuition cost as ACE, only it is spread out over 24 months.

4. What would be the start and end dates of the program?

The program will begin September 22, 2014 and end in September of 2016.

5. How are the online courses incorporated into the curriculum?

In the first quarter, NURS 110 and 337 will be online. After that, up to one course per term will be online. Clinicals will not be available online.

6. How large is the class? More specifically, how many seats are available?

The first cohort will have a maximum of 24 students enrolled. Students will be split into three sections of eight.

Hope they figure out who they want before June because if I get in I will need to start looking for housing in Philly asap...I live out of state haha

Hey, no I didn't get that email. Hmmm! I hope so too...i would move back in with my parents as they live close by in jersey though....i am also looking into seton hall cnl/msn program direct entry ...its 2 yrs as well, but you get a master's instead of a bsn.
