I'm actually doing the same...I finished my ADN last month and will start my BSN classes in June (I already took all of the general Ed classes for BSN). I have a math, physics, o chem, and two other classes to finish up biology degree. I didn't take any classes toward biology degree the past three semesters, only because I couldn't coordinate the biology degree classes with the nursing classes/clinicals schedule. In retrospect I am glad I didn't take the extra classes the past couple of semesters, not because it wasn't doable but because I would have had zero time for anything else. I carried a 4.0 prior to my nursing classes, even while taking 18-22 credit hours a semester. However, as everyone warns, the nursing classes are a different beast LOL. I didn't do too shabby, finished with a 3.6, but that just shows the difference between prereqs and nursing classes. I got low 90%s in my nursing classes, which translates to B (93% and above is an A for us). So while I could manage a 4.0 semester even with 22 credit hours, I never got above a B in any nursing classes (and our schedule was always less than 11 credit hours).
Anyhow, something to chew on :) I love math and science so taking those classes is a treat for me (yeah, I'm one of those weird people LOL!) I feel blessed that I've had the opportunity to go back to school so I have attempted to suck up every class I possibly can! Good luck with whatever you decide!
Thank you for replying! It really helps to put it into perspective what I'll be getting myself into.
I can get rid of the bio lit and physics next semester before my main nursing starts in the fall. Then kill a couple chems over the summer. I think I'd regret not trying, even though I'm not sure it's the right decision. If I don't, I'd have 3-4 semesters of nursing classes only (I shouldn't say "only"!) and maybe it's smarter not to but I love the sciences too and think I can handle them. Like you said nursing will be another beast!
Like you I feel really grateful to get this opportunity. I was lucky to get scholarships and financial aid to cover most of my tuition. I never thought I could afford this and feel like I want to get all that I can.

Hi
I asked this in the pre-nursing forum but only got 1 reply and I just wanted more opinions please.
I need 8 classes to get a major in biology. I can finish a minor next semester if I wanted but I got tempted to try for a major. I've taken a&p 1 and 2 already, microbiology, intro chem, and biology. I need biological literature (1 credit but time consuming ), genetics, bio seminar, organic and inorganic chem 1 and 2 and conceptual physics.
I have 3 years for a BSN. I need healthcare chem and statistics for nursing besides the core classes.
I want to try the bio major for a few reasons. One is to remain a full time student needed for my scholarships and financial aid. Second is I wanted to leave a door open for physicians assistant even though I have no interest to pursue that atm. Third is I think it might help my job chances more? And last I love challenges. I'm kind of a perfectionist personality and I really do like challenging myself. But I want to be real too. I don't know if nursing is too much time for this but I have the summers too....
Please let me know your opinions. If I don't do the double major I might consider a minor in psych besides bio.
Thank you!
P.s. I study very hard. My gpa is 3.9 because I put in alot of time (I took 18 credits last semester) but I definitely work for my grades.
