Do any of you know about Wallace Community College near Dothan?
My parents live there and say that they don't have enough students going into the nursing program there! Something about an ad in the newspaper trying to recruit students to the nursing program? I live in Los Angeles and all of our school are impacted with waiting lists up to 2 years!
Any info would be appreciated!
I went to Wallace and graduated from the ADN program in 1999. My 21 classmates and I all made great nurses...it was a pretty airtight program. Is Mr. Ortman still teaching Med Surg III? All his exams come DIRECTLY from the notes. You can't miss there. I think the pass rate was 97% when I went. Overall great education.
Not having enough students to apply is exactly what happened to me. I was accepted at WCC for spring 07; however, on the first day of class I learned the classs being cancelled b/c there were not enough students for the program. I was dissappointed, but I believe God has another plan. When one door closes another opens, so i'm hoping to get into CVCC in Phenix City alabama.
Hi DUECSON,
I am sorry to hear that. On 03/01/07 are the application packages for nursing school starting August 07 available.
At present my husband and I are thinking of the possibility that I quit college. It is because of the visa problems. At this time are no visas for nurses available und for a H-1B you have to wait round 5 years. We are not shure that my husband and I are able to stay the hole time. I guess we should make our decision soon.
I wish you all the best and good luck for your plans.

Hello, I am in the second semester of the RN program at Wallace in Dothan. They accepted about 120 students this semester and last semester was about the same when I started. Its a great program. You should at least apply, you never know until you try. I was accepted first try so I say go for it.
I am just getting started and very nervous. I moved to Ozark, Albama just 2 weeks ago from Charlotte, NC. Economy had an effect on me where my lover and I had to leave due to not having no where to live. I moved down with my bestfriend/bother from the military and his family. I never had as much support like I do now.
I pray I make it through. Being a nurse has been a dream of mine for years. As a child I told my father I wanted to be a doctor and ever since til this day he calls me Doc. I hope to make him proud of me and my mother. My family period.
It's good to hear WCC has a high passing rate. I have one friend that told me WCC nurses/instructures do a weed out process. That's one thing I am nervous about. Expecially being a black male. I mean I wonder sometimes if they would be more worried about helping me or weeding me out. Either way I am focused and at this point in my life I never wanted something so bad as this. I know I will pass, I'm just trying to get prepared for the trails and tribulations I must face and overcome.
I hope to meet a good friend in school, someone I can study with and someone that is focused and determined to pass. Someone that is head strong and someone that can take a little challenge in life. Who knows maybe I'll meet a good friend on allnurses.com too.

I try to get in the ADN program in Wallace in August 07. But before I can apply I must do the academics.
