I`m having trouble with this-- i don`t understand why the book says the answer is supposed to be 10.. any help would be greatly appreciated
order: penicillin v potassium 25 mg/kg/day in equally divided doses 8 hr. child weighs 66 pounds. calculate 1 dose and express in ml
Bag: c-villin K. 125 mg, 200,000 units per 5 ml. 100 ml is written up top.
what i did:
66 lb=30 kg
30x25=750
750/3=250mg-- this is one dose
250/125 = 2
answer is supposed to be 10 ml .. ?? what did i do wrong

there are 125 mg per 5 ml.
you need your dose to be 250 mg
if there are 125 mg in 5 ml, then you would need to double it to get 250 ml right? So you'd give 10 ml for the 250 mg dose. make sense?
you didn't do anything wrong, you just forgot the last step :)
