Okay this seems so simple?
Dose ordered is Warfin 25,000u/500ml to run at 1200units/hr
How many ml/hr will you start the drip?
I know the answer is 240ml/hr..I am really trying guys..can sumone pleez explain this..I would be forever grateful!!
I'm also stuck here..
A patient is to receive Heparin 25,000units in 500ml of D5W at 7ml/hr.How many units per an hour will the patient recieve?
350u/hr..How? I'm so lost
I get the whole ordered dose over dose on hand..i'm just confused about where to plug the numbers
Any help is appreciated

Are you sure the answer is 240ml/hr? I keep getting a fraction of your answer no matter how I do it.
500ml/25000units x 1200units/1hr= my answer.
Setup your second question like this: You want your answer in units/hr. Start with the bit of info given thats given thats the same type as your answers numerator; in this case it's "units". If you look at your given info, you're going to use the 2500u in 500ml to start. Setup the rest of the info so you can cross cancel.
25000units/500ml x 7ml/1hr = 350units/hr

I used dimensional analysis and this is what I did:
1) 500ml/25000 u 12000 u / hr
2) units cancel out...the only "units" you should have left are (ml) on top and (hr) on the bottom = ml/hr
3) multiply straight across the top and divide by the bottom
500 * 12000 / 25000
This looks so much better on paper. Hope that helps!
Oops, didn't see the second one.

Like the above poster suggested, set up what you're looking for: make sure your units are on top and hr on bottom. Then set up everything else so that they cancel each other out.
25,000 units/500 ml * 7ml/hr units is on top and hr on bottom and ml cancel each other out.
so 25,000 * 7 / 500 = 350 units/hr

The first one is 24mls.25 000u/500mls is equal to 50 units /ml. (25 000 divided by 500 is 50).Therefore, 1200 u/hr would equal 24 mls/hr. (1200 divided by 50 is 24).
The second one would be 350 units.25 000 units/500ml is equal to 50u/ml( 25 000 divided by 500 is 50). You are running it at 7mls/hr so the patient is getting 350units/hr.(50x7=350).
