Don't underestimate practice questions

Published

Hi all just wanted to share my experience throughout nursing school and now in NP school. Practice questions from review books have saved me. Don't underestimate using them as a resource. Especially as a NP it is not just memorizing but rather application and doing those questions makes it easier come exam time.

Have you finished school?

At the provider level you can't simply memorize things, there is too much, you need to understand the underlying pathology and mechanisms.

No I haven't finished yet, I may have misworded what I meant. We had the toughest exam in our NP program this week and from the beginning our professor mentioned the same as you, that as an NP it is not just memorization but rather understanding and critical thinking. So the way I studied was in doing hundreds of practice questions with various patient scenarios and this helped me truly understand the material and how to apply it rather than rote memorization. Maybe half the class failed but by doing those questions and learning the patho and indications for treatment I passed. I just wanted to encourage other students to spend the time to do questions so it could help them

too.
