Don't know what to do (job offer)

Published

I just graduated with my BSN in December and have been searching for jobs for a while. I got a call from Emory and Northeast GA Med Center and they said they would forward my resume to the nurse manager. I had an interview with the Medical Center of Central Georgia on Monday and they offered me a job.

I would really rather stay closer to Atlanta or the north side, so I don't know what to do. I don't want to turn down this offer since it's been difficult for new grads. At the same time I really want to hear from these other hospitals.

Should I call them and tell them I had a job offer and I want to see if they are still interested in me? MCCG wants an answer by Monday but they still haven't told me about pay and benefits so I'm thinking about asking for another day or two or think about it. In the meantime, I can contact the other hospitals.

Any suggestions?

Thanks! Hopefully they will.

I have an interview with Northeast Georgia Medical center in a few weeks, did you ever hear back from them?

I did. I have an interview tomorrow. What unit(s) are you interviewing for?

Its a phone interview with the nursing recruiter. I applied for a position on monday (CHF unit) and they called on tuesday to set up a phone interview...its about an hours drive from where I live but I want to specialize in cardiac and have heard their's is the best. Good luck with your interview, what position is yours for?

Oh ok. That's what I did first. But now I have to drive up there for an interview with the nurse managers. One is for ICU and I'm not sure what the other unit is.

Good Luck! I hope the phone interview isn't too bad!

No it wasn't bad at all. Good luck to you as well!

How was the interview today??

It was good. I probably won't know anything until next week. So until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Would you be commuting from Atl? Sorry for all the questions I am just worried that I wont be able to find a job, even though I have a 1 1/2 years experience as a nurse extern. Thanks for your help!

Is it true that if your a new grad you MUST sign a contract for 2 years to Emory? Can you not do the residency program and work as a regular staff nurse? Thanks in advance for the clarification.

I believe you have to sign a contract. They put a lot of time and effort into training their new grads so that's prob why they male them sign contracts.
