I'm currently at the half mark of anatomy and physiology 1. For the most part it has been a nightmare from the word start . I registered iniitially with plenty of time to make adjustments to my program so went I went to the preclass before the actual class started I should have followed my reaction and that was ***. The professor started of like a drill Sargent and told the attending class that this is and will be one of the hardest courses in your life that very class up until now was a complete joke and that half of us won't even make it pass the first week .after that I was confused for a moment I thought I had signed up for the navy seals and someone forgot to warn me .he started with chem wait a min I've never had chem the advisor didn't tell me about that. Wow so after much debate I decided to stick with it I had some knowledge of anatomy. Well needless to say that so far I have just managed to stay above water with a 76 on two of my quizzes in lecture and a 68 in lab so I came to terms of leaving with a c but then I got the result back on my bone practical I had never taken a exam like that before and nor did they prepare us for the inmment slaughter . I got a 54 now I don't know what to do. I have until May 8 to drop with a W. But then I mess up my finically aid .i considered making up the difference in session two but I need to replace 4 credits for this one class what do I do ?

A&P is hard for a lot of people. If you think you can save yourself, stick with it. If you can do a study group, tutoring, now is the time.

Should that not be possible, perhaps you can make up the class over the summer. I would make an appointment with your academic advisor. Discuss where to go from here, and any and all options that you have.

Get a ream of flashcards (index cards) and use them. Every term/vocabulary needs to go on cards that you study. Often. Another thought is youtube-- for instance how the blood flows through the heart, and visualize what it is that you are reading about.

Best wishes to you going forward, and have discussion with your advisor on perhaps another professor. Sometimes, as a student, you just don't click. But I would not mess up financial aid over a class.

First thing. Stop blaming others for your grades. "what do I do"? Study more. Study harder. Stop blaming other people. You will have many more classes that are a challenge and you can't walk around blaming instructors. Same if somehow you become an RN. You screw up it is on you. You learn to navigate whatever the situation is no matter who the instructor (or doctor) is. And quit with the "navy Seal" drama. It is offensive.

I had a very tough professor for A&P too. I passed with an A+ in both sections. Want to know how I did it? I studied the lecture notes and I read each chapter in the book twice. I also didn't have the mindset that this is a hard class. I took it upon myself to learn the material and do well in the class. Just because the professor was hard didn't make any difference to me. Plus I was one of the older students in class. While everyone was complaining about the grades they received I was studying for the next test.

My A&P 2 professor is KILLER. His tests are legends, he is slightly sadistic in the way he enjoys making them. And I got a 99% on the last one.

You can't treat every class the same, you have to find a way to study that suits YOU best and tailor it to the teachers test. Expecting diagrams? print out unlabeled ones and rewrite /practice pointing out. Have definitions, use flashcards. Have matching sections? I utilize the matching game on Quizlet. Most importantly UNDERSTAND what it is you are memorizing it, because once you get how it (insert organ, tissue, system, mechanism, process) is supposed to work, everything falls into place. Take the time to learn roots and prefixes and what they mean

Go to Amazon and get the Anatomy Coloring Book and the Physiology Coloring Book. They re not jokes but real resources that will engage other parts of your brain to make the information you need to master stick in there. Many people to whom I have recommended these have been very grateful to be turned on to them. I have zero financial interest in either...but I have a LOT of interest in seeing that nursing students learn this critical material.

A&P is hard but you have to study it every day for a few hours. I got 63% on my first exam and aced the other 3. Why? Because I underestimated how much I need to study at first and then I kicked in to gear to earn that A. I made flashcards, study power points, read book before class and after class, I wrote my hand notes on word then printed it and actually wrote more notes on my own and of course I watched lots of YouTube and Khan academy videos. Also my library had models of skeletal, muscles and all the rest than you can touch and look at. I would check them out for a few hours to remember the parts we are responsible of knowing. We didnt have a word bank to label anything and spelling counted.

Hardest class ever but this is the foundation to nursing and you need to know this. So like someone mentioned the professor is there to guide you but you need to do all the work. No one is to blame but you.
