Don't you just love your non-nursing major friends/family...

When they text/call complaining about not scoring '100' points on their third try on an ONLINE (clearly open book) EXAM?

Or, complain about typing a 3 page paper?

I love my friends, but SHEESH!! Sometimes, I want to throw my phone when I hear or get a text about their school assignments!

Or, I tell my mom how excited I am about receiving a 'B' (Shoot, I'd be happy with a 'C'!) on my Med Surg exam and she jokingly says, "Next time, I want an 'A'!"

Sorry, just venting :lol2:...

Haaaahaha I totally get what you mean. ALthough many of my family members are in the medical none of my friends are and I frequently study with my best friend. Now last semester she had 2 classes and complained all the time, one was an intro business class and the other was a second english comp class, while I had med-surg and some other stuff. She ended up dropping one while telling me how incredibly hard it was for her, although she got extra credit for showing up to class and extra credit for everything hahahah. This semester I had 2 med-surg, ob, and psych and she had stress managementa nd I'lb call her"Oh I got an A on my med-surg test!" and she would say "oh yes I got a 98 on my stress management test and I barely studied too." ummm okay.....

You'll all get there...trust me...:) I think the biggest hump for us all was peds/OB even for the ppl who have kids (if that mattered).... after that the rest is just busy work and BS :)

It annoys me too, especially when I literally spend every waking moment doing nursing stuff, and my friends have NO clue what I'm going through. All my personal time is taken up doing homework, studying and clinical research with the odd break or 2, and meanwhile my house is not being kept up. I'm sure the neighbours wonder why I'm not outside working in my garden... My b/f always complains that I never clean the walls and cupboards... Walking my dog is an extra that I absolutely have to do b/c he will bark at me and go berserk in the house if I don't. It's very overwhelming, to the point that it makes me feel ill.

However, if I was in your friend's shoes, I might also worry about assignments and performance, especially if I wanted to do well and maybe didn't have a lot of prior education... I'd also expect myself to get 100% on an on-line open book exam, although I would hope I wouldn't complain about it to someone in a nursing program :)

Perhaps your friends are not as fortunate and can't actually get into nursing or other program of choice. Perhaps they have significant barriers to writing a 3 page essay that you don't have. So I would try to take those annoying comments with a grain of salt. Good luck :)

I know I cant wait! I am in a BSN program and am officially a senior now :) We had OB last semester but we have ped's next which I heard is hard. I am hoping it flies by like the last 2 years have :)

I was going to post on here not to underestimate an online test. I'm an e-learning nursing student so all of my exams except the final are online and it is very very hard even with a book. BUT, we're talking about non-nursing students and i totally get it haha. I had my former HR manager tell me when comparing nursing school to her degree, "It was very hard but I got my bachelor's in business and I made ALL A's." My direct manager took the words right out of my mouth when he told her, "yeah but nursing and business are two COMPLETELY different things."
