Dominican University Fall 2013 Accepted Students

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey all! I am starting this thread so that we can all post and talk about our acceptance to Dominican University of California's School of Nursing (BSN program)!

Hello! Did you receive an acceptance letter already?

Hey! I sure did! Did you? :)

Hey! I received a call congratulating me on my acceptance and received the packet the next day. I'm excited, but kind of confused about the program.

hey Estjelly,

Did you receive an actual separate acceptance letter from the School of Nursing? Or just the letter from the University?

Oh crap lol I didn't realize there were two separate letters. In my packet there was a letter of acceptance to the university, a letter about my scholarship, a transfer evaluation form, next steps, and housing info. What about you? On the phone I think the person I talked to said congrulations you're in the nursing program or something like that, but everything after "congratulations" is a blur lol.

I Did not receive anything yet?

Do you live in the bay area? I live in contra Costa county and received the information on the 28th.

I live in San Francisco so maybe this week? Congrats to both of you by the way! :)

Thanks! Hopefully you'll be getting some good news too :) now I'm worried though because I wasn't aware that I was supposed to get two different letters. Where else did you apply?

hopefully!!! I applied to SFSTATE, CSM, CCSF, and Domincian

Hey all--thanks so much for responding! I wouldn't worry if you didn't receive a separate nursing school acceptance letter as long as the person on the phone told you got into the nursing program. That's exactly what happened to me, and boy did I freak out when I realized there was no letter from the School of Nursing! Of course this had to happen over the weekend, so I couldn't call until today. I also applied to SFSU, SJSU, and CSUEB. This is my safety school, and while I'm glad that I got in, I am not sure I'll be going here.

There is a 3 semester wait time before you can even begin taking nursing classes. Which means that even if you're a transfer student, it will take you the 3 semesters of taking a 1 unit class to hold your spot (paying out of pocket $1000/unit), PLUS the three year nursing program curriculum! That means it's an additional 4.5 years to get your degree!!!! Insane! Thankfully I was awarded a 10K scholarship for 3 years, and I can save that for when I start the program. I also qualified for a Cal grant, but those are only applied if you're a full-time student.
