Dominican College ABSN / WABSN program 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everybody!

I recently applied to Dominican College WABSN 2020 and would like to meet current applicants, current or former students. The weekend program is very convenient for working adults, that is the main reason why I chose it. However, there are no reviews about this program, I would like to read about others experience and thoughts about the school/nursing program in general.

Everybody is welcome to this post, let's share our experience through this process.

Thanks!

So the entire package had documents on vaccination information, tuition reimbursement policies, if I needed to take a challenge exam, a checklist of my prerequisite courses and what year I took them..etc. but I noticed that at the top of the checklist it said May 2021 start date. So I emailed and was told it was for May 2021 even though on the dc portal it states May 2020-May 2021. I can only be upset at myself for this. I was really hoping for this coming May.

how do you know you've been accepted on the dc portal site?

Congrats on getting in!

I guess I can assume the worst at this point.

Don’t assume the worst cuz I’m not In for this year

I got an email with my credentials activated and there’s a section where you can see the status of your application

what type of classes did you take in your postbacc?

Does your page say:

Status

You have been at the Accepted stage since [date you applied]?

Physics 1, Physics 2, Anatomy 1 w/ lab, Pathophysiology, developmental psych, sociology, general psychology

i had already had a A in Undergrad for classes like Anatomy but because a lot of my classes are approaching the 10 year mark I needed to retake them

Oh I see! Thank you so much.

I am not sure If I should do a master's in the meantime to approve my application.

I mean it depends on the masters. Are you referring to a masters direct entry nursing program like Columbia or John Hopkins?

No I meant just to increase my overall GPA, which is a 3.3.

I think the grades that are important are the grades you received in the pre-req courses. You have the same gpa as me so I don’t think it’s about raising it so much. Technically post bac classes count as undergrad gpa which is why osteopathic med schools accept grade replacement. Plus a masters gpa is a complete separate entity. I’m not really sure what else they take into account because there’s no interviews, no recommendation letters and no teas. It’s difficult to say. But they could possibly be waiting for transcripts to arrive.

**also some people may have high gpas but it indicative of what major it is

for example I know people who have completed the program in the past and we’re accepted with 2.8 and 3.0 gpas, their bachelors were in the sciences. They probably want people who excelled in the pre req courses because it shows that they have a great chance excelling in the nursing courses. Me having a A in a history class is not an indication that I will be great in the nursing program but having an A in Anatomy is.

I guess I gotta wait another 1.5 years ? . My only hope is if people don’t wanna go which I highly doubt. I’m so sad.
