If a shelter is large enough, they might have an RN to help with intakes. But any client that has true nursing needs will not be appropriate for a community shetler. She will be in a hospital. Also, this kind of screening job would be hard to come by, would not be appropriate for a new grad, and would require a BSN. ER nurses work extensively with this population, as do forensic nurses (EG "rape kit.")

Hi!I'm currently attending school to receive my associate's in nursing. When I get a job, I want to help domestic violence victims and survivors, and preferably just them. But I don't know what kind of facility I should apply to? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Perhaps Social Work is more your calling?
Sadly, you will find this in ALL areas of practice. It is that prevalent.
Good luck.
