DOJ review taking months to review???

Published

Hello my wife completed her CNA course in October and passed the exam and the school submitted her info to the DOJ. There was some mix up either on the school side or DOJ and basically the DOJ keeps saying check back again in a few weeks. We've been doing that since November and here we are at the end of January with no resolution in site. Who can I contact to figure out what's going on here?

Initially the DOJ said there was something wrong or missing and it was returned to the school and the school said they resubmitted it with everything needed. But still nothing from DOJ.

This is obviously beyond frustrating since we don't know what's going on and she can't work as a CNA yet.

Any clues on who to contact for help? Isn't there someone who can answer at the DOJ instead of just getting the tired answer of check back later?

I don't know specifically how this works (btw what does DOJ stand for?) but whenever I don't get the answer I want I am to speak to the person's supervisor. I don't always get what I want but at least I know I'm speaking to the most senior (and accountable) person.

Sorry, it's the department of Justice. They do the final background check before you can be a CNA. Basically it's just validation of your livescan finger print and criminal check.

One thing I forgot to add, she was a CNA a few years ago and had no issues. Then she stopped working to have our kids so her CNA expired and had to start all over again.

So just stuck here with the run-around with a normal process. Wasn't sure if anyone else expirenced this.

Still getting the run-around. Called the CDHP as they were the ones that submitted it and they said we just have to wait. This was submitted over 3 months ago. We try calling the DOJ but they said they don't give updates. So stuck here with no help.

Sorry you are having such difficulty with this. I know for my license it was DOJ and FBI, did you have to do both or just DOJ, maybe if both you can try to resend it yourself to the DOJ with the original livescan paperwork, or get something from the FBI to send. I dont know if that is possible or not but it would be worth a try. Did the school resend it or are they all just hoping it magically fixes itself? I would just keep calling both until I got a satisfactory answer on how to proceed to fix this, it should not take this long, something is askew somewhere!

hi any update on this poor thing this is horrible!

Please contact your areas U.S. House Representative https://www.house.gov/representatives ---they are the ones that deal with federal agencies like DOJ. to inquire about the issue resolution However, due to the COVID19 disruption, expect to take a while to resolve.

Hi Karen, question for you maybe you have some input on this, I submitted my paperwork to the BVNPT for my NCLEX exam and I had a prior arrest on a bench warrant, I had my case expunged and I sent all the court record and doc to the board but they are not allowing me to test until I sent my arrest report which I don’t have this case was 20 years ago I sent them that paper stating that there’s no record or it and now I’m waiting this was 2 weeks ago. I’m feeling so much anxiety and especially with all that’s going on, do you happend to know how long it takes for them to reply? I know might be a silly question but I have emailed my license examiner and she has not replied, I would think they let me test and then review my case I feel like I can’t rest most of my class has tested and I’m waiting sad part is I am valedictorian of my class and now I just feel embarrassed ?

Yes finally got the approval. Just kept calling the CDHP and DOJ and while we kept getting the same response, at least we spoke to different people and I can only think that's what got someone to complete the review. So good news my wife got her CNA back finally.
