I saw this after surfing the net. Press release 01/12/2011
The Department of Health (DoH) today announced that applications can be filed starting next week, January 17, for its project where unemployed nurses will be deployed to poor communities in the country.
"the project, billed RN heals, seeks to make essential health services available to all Filipinos by training and deploying 10,000 unemployed nurses in communities to be identified by the DoH in collaboration with the department of social welfare & development (DSWD),"
Health secretary Enrique Ona said.
Rn Heals, an acronym for registered nurses for health enhancement and local service, is expected to address the shortage of skilled and experienced nurses in 1,221 rural and unserved or underserved communities for one year.
"eventually, these nurses will be part of the pool of competent nurses for later employment or absorption in health facilities, thus addressing the inadequate supply of skilled nurses and increasing the nurses' employment rate," the health chief concluded.
That is my point. If your certificate was not even considered in your own country, what more if you want to go abroad? Isn't it ironic that when the issue of "Volunteerism for a Fee" started spreading like wildfire in the news for over a week, they started again this kind of program? Do the authorities involved and responsible think that RN HEALS can augment this conundrum? I don't think so.
Let's just think positive for this program. As from my experienced as NARS Project, I haven't had any problem like that, even my batch mates. Maybe it depends on the hospital and if they have knowledge about the NARS Project. There were agencies also accepting graduates of NARS Project to work abroad.
Let's just be thankful that 10,000 nurses can be benefited from RNheals than being jobless. Public health service is indeed a very rewarding experience. Well, accdg. to the DOH article, health chief said, "Eventually, these nurses will be part of the pool of competent nurses for later employment or absorption in health facilities, thus addressing the inadequate supply of skilled nurses and increasing the nurses' employment rate". :)
Hi!! I'm already registered in the RN HEals program.. and my control number is 15000+, so I'm shortlisted, is their a possibility that I'll get through.. I'm really worried about this.. and also do I have to wait for their (DOLE) text and email before I submit my medical and nbi clearances? or I have to submit it even if they don't notify me? Thanks!!
Hi everyone! I don't really find most forums interesting so I mostly disregard them but I find this thread so worth spending my time for.
I have just recently submitted my online application for RNheals. I'm quite excited but nervous about it though . I'm so glad to be back in my nursing life after a quite rough ride with another industy.
I'm hoping that those RN's with previous experience on this DOLE project would share their ideas on how to go about with the interview if any case we (without experiences) will be called up for an interview. How long is this interview gonna go? What are the common questions they ask? I really hope someone out there would give in a little bit of their inputs... appreciate it! tenchu! :heartbeat:dncgcpd:
has anyone here been given an interview schedule? i think some of those who did the manual application at their local dole office were given an interview schedule immediately.
really??
i have a question. Does RNHeals prioritize those nurses with zero experience (even ojt or volunteer) like NARS? Will they accept unemployed nurses but with ojt or volunteer experience? ty

Well, i'm so sorry to hear that... I am also a NARS Project Batch 1. But, so far, I didn't have any problem like that. They still accepted my experience from the project even my batchmates. Maybe it depends on the hospital and it's because you applied in QC wherein they didn't specifically know or have knowledge about the NARS Project. I hope you reported this to DOLE or DOH. :)
