Dog Tired

I really am not looking for information tonight, I am just dog tired! I work full time, take care of an elderly parent who lives a few miles from me, and am taking online classes for my MSN in Ed. I have been taking classes since October without a break and have 2 weeks left in my current class and then another 8 week class and then I think I am taking an 8-16 week break. I will have completed 18 credits and my poor little brain is dog tired! Thank you all for listening.

Wow you should be proud of yourself!

Give yourself a break!

I can't imagine trying to do all of that! A master's degree is tough enough without the additional stress of a full-time job and taking care of an elderly parent.

I did 34 credits in 16 months with only one break between the fall and winter semesters. My brain was fried! I didn't work and didn't have too many family obligations, either. Sometimes I just had to zone out and watch bad reality shows or play Angry Birds---something to let me recharge and rest.

I hope you can get some time off. You have a right to be double dog tired!

Bad reality shows and Angry Birds really helps me also! Great advice!

So true about the reality TV. I lived on Real Housewives and Rachel Zoe Project through school. It just gives me something mindless to veg out to when my brain is on complete overload. I've also found that if I'm having trouble shutting my brain off to go to sleep at night, HouseHunters on HGTV puts me out every time!

But seriously, try to cut yourself some slack. Plan something for your upcoming 8-16 wk break, put it on your calendar in RED, and keep it like a beacon in front of you to look forward to. Maybe a little trip (arrange respite care for your family member) so you can get away. Then when you need a lift to get you through until that time, you can go online and check out restaurants or interesting things you'd like to see/do while you're on your adventure.

Having something on the calendar to look forward to is VITAL. My husband is soon going to have a very serious surgery...so I booked a trip to Vegas (he's always wanted to go) for 2 months after surgery. Every now and then if I get down, I get online and skive around for things I might want to do while we're there.

Chin up!

Thank you all for knowing how hard this is, I am just starting another class today and then in 8 weeks I am definitely taking some time off. As for Vegas, it is a fun place with lots of free things to do, if you can get tickets to a Cirque show you should go, I went to see the Beatles Love by Cirque and it was fantastic.
