Hi, After my daughter was diagnosed with renal failure at the age of 2. I have thought for many years about becomming a registered nurse. In June I start the LVN program in california. (Later after completing this course I will go for the RN) Any how my daughter is now 10years old. She hasnt needed a kidney replacement. Phew!!!.. However I still want to be a nurse.
Does anyone know if I go to the year of school and pass the test in california, will washington state recgonize my license? My husband and I would like to move back home to washington state, after I complete school.
I think you all are wonderful people, and interesting. I read this site all the time, the good the bad and the ugly...lol

once you pass the nclex-pn, you can practice in any state, just need to obtain license by endorsement in new state.
washington info:
each state has different requirements and different fees so you will want to contact the other state nursing board directly. once you have taken the nclex examination you are eligible to endorse into any state as long as you meet their other particular requirements such as continuing education, if applicable. contact information for other states can be found at the forms site.

good luck with school!

Just to let you know that the California and New York LVN Nclex testing is harder than any of the other states and if you have either of those licenses you can pretty much transfer anywhere. I am an LVN in California and just received my LPN for Indiana and all I did was pay Indiana 50 dollars fill out the appropriate paperwork through Indiana and also pay California 75 dollars to send Indiana verification of my California Schooling, and Licensing information and I received my licensed from Indiana. Hope this helps.

Sorry, but that is completely wrong information. The exam is a national exam, and is the same no matter where you take it. It is a computerized exam and it changes depedent on how you answer the questions, and only you. Whether you take the exam in Hong Kong, London, or some small town in Iowa, you will get the same questions.
And to the second part of your claim, if the nurse was able to sit for th PN exam in CA, because they had been a corpsmen in the military; then that license will not transfer to any other state, as educational requirements have not been met.
Please verify your information before posting it.
