yes!! reputation is everything.

YES. My nursing school is in the process of losing its accredidation, so A LOT of the upcoming seniors (c/o 2015) have been rejected from internships. It's a little early to see the how this effects the 2014 grads with jobs, as they haven't taken the NCLEX yet, but YES. Choose a good school with a great reputation.

I've been told by SOO many nurses that anymore because of how competitive the field is, reputation is everything. I also know that in my area of North Texas, the higher education level achieved, the better as well.

Not necessarily. However, now with everyone trying to get into nursing school and employers have more to choose from then yes. However, it's all about who you know, make sure you make a good impression In clinical, get a CNA job, or even volunteer where you plan to work. It will help you. Just having great a great school on your resume is not enough but may help.

I also agree with OCRN3 that it's who you know. My friend failed her NCLEX the first time & then once she passed it couldn't find a job to save her life. She didn't even get a call back from the local small town hospital by our home. She ended up only getting hired on at the same hospital her husband has worked at for years because he really went to bat for her. She still had to start with a not - so - great schedule, but at least she got hired.

I've been told though that one of the good qualities of my school (TWU Dallas) is that they help you network while in clinicals & upper division so that by the time you graduate you have made connections & will be able to seek employment through those. I can't speak to that personally, but it has been reiterated to me by quite a few students about to graduate.

That is right! When I went to the appointment with admission representative in a school of my choice, he proudly announced that they have great networking system that will help me to find a job in hospitals of Chicago after my graduation. I am just dreading how hard it is to get into this particular school-10 people to one place

I am also from Chicago. I can't think of a BSN Or MSN program in the area with a poor reputation.

We live in an area of great schools. I honestly would not be worried about the reputations in this area. They're all quite good.

Can you tell me please which school did you graduate from( if in Chicago area)? I am changing my major so am looking at MSN programs. Ressurection college requires a lot of prerequisites so I am not considering this school. De Paul, Rush and UIC are schools of my choice. There is also chamberlain college but it is so easy to get in to the program that I don't think this school would look good on my resume!

DePaul rush and uic are great schools, but chamberlain also has a great reputation around here. Their grads go on to work at great hospitals.

Everyone I know that went to rush ended up working at rush.
