Does Pima Medical Institute have a LPN to RN program?

U.S.A. Arizona

Updated:   Published

Hello,

Trying to look into the PMI program. I noticed the $40,000 tuition price for the RN program; is this the same price if you are already an LPN? I have been trying to do a research on this but only find the 18 month RN program.

What is the class schedule like? Is it Monday-Friday 9-5?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance for any assistance.

I can't get much information from anyone from PMI unless we go to some kind of seminar.

Thanks again.

Is this just offered in Tucson? Congrats!

It is also offered in Mesa and I think somewhere in New Mexico

Husband finished the Mesa LPN-RN bridge program December 2010 and passed NCLEX-RN!

I finished the same program in August 2011 and passed NCLEX-RN as well!

Great program highly recommend! :yeah:

How did this program work? Did you already have all the MCCD pre/co reqs? were there others?

Hi AZMOM02,

You will need a 85% or better HESI score that has been taken within the year to be considered for an interview. You will be competing with other LPNs so the higher your score the better. You can take the HESI at any MCC site call them for days and times. They will go through all your transcripts and years of experience as a nurse and tell you what you need.

It is important to have your basic prereqs on Psych and Sciences but not so much the Math that is required for MCC but the basic algebra is important to be able to do the Med-Math which is pretty easy. See a counselor and they will tell you all the process. Be ready to take a Basic Math test on the spot and a Wondelic test. If you have your HESI done the better and that will help you get an interview faster.

Lots of hoops but they don't want just anybody in their program as this program is not for everybody either.

They take a handful of LPNs every 8 months. The next one starts in April and so forth. They chose 6 when I went, we all passed : ).

The LPN program lasts for 8 months and you have classes M-F and one clinical day that starts from 6AM-7:30P earlier or later. You will need to also do a clinical prep the day prior to your clinical. The class hours vary. You will either be there for 8 hours or half day 8A-12 or 12-4P. Also you will need to study a whole lot so consider that as well in your schedule.

Please post if you have any more questions.

Good Luck the program can be difficult and stressful but well worth it.

Thanks for the info! I got a 98% on my HESI so not worried there. I have ALL of my pre/coreqs completed except for Micro, which I am halfway through now. I work fulltime nights with a VERY flexible schedule where I get 8 hours of study during my 10 hour shifts.

I really wanted to pay out of pocket and not get loans though. That is the biggest thing with the Pima program, the cost. My LPN program was tough and I managed a 92% each semester so I am not worried about it. But glad to know they have a great NCLEX passing rate.

Still weighing my options for the spring so we shall see!

You definetly have a great advantage with that awesome Hesi score! There is a lot of options for you school wise.

Glad I was able to answer questions for you.
