  1. You definetly have a great advantage with that awesome Hesi score! There is a lot of options for you school wise. Glad I was able to answer questions for you.
  2. Hi AZMOM02, You will need a 85% or better HESI score that has been taken within the year to be considered for an interview. You will be competing with other LPNs so the higher your score the better. You can take the HESI at any MCC site call them for days and times. They will go through all your transcripts and years of experience as a nurse and tell you what you need. It is important to have your basic prereqs on Psych and Sciences but not so much the Math that is required for MCC but the basic algebra is important to be able to do the Med-Math which is pretty easy. See a counselor and they will tell you all the process. Be ready to take a Basic Math test on the spot and a Wondelic test. If you have your HESI done the better and that will help you get an interview faster. Lots of hoops but they don't want just anybody in their program as this program is not for everybody either. They take a handful of LPNs every 8 months. The next one starts in April and so forth. They chose 6 when I went, we all passed : ). The LPN program lasts for 8 months and you have classes M-F and one clinical day that starts from 6AM-7:30P earlier or later. You will need to also do a clinical prep the day prior to your clinical. The class hours vary. You will either be there for 8 hours or half day 8A-12 or 12-4P. Also you will need to study a whole lot so consider that as well in your schedule. Please post if you have any more questions. Good Luck the program can be difficult and stressful but well worth it.
  3. Husband finished the Mesa LPN-RN bridge program December 2010 and passed NCLEX-RN! I finished the same program in August 2011 and passed NCLEX-RN as well! Great program highly recommend!
  4. Congratulations for getting into PMI. I really think they have a great nursing program. I'm hoping to be accepted to the program in January. I believe my husband is in your class his name is Marty. I was really sad when I didn't get in with him in May but, I believe now it was meant to be because I am doing what I can to help Marty succeed. It really is an intense program but it works. I quiz him with NCLEX questions and I am amazed with just the few weeks he has been in the classes he has answered questions with 80-90% accuracy. Good luck to you and again, congratulations!
  5. congratulations, kristiel6! how are you doing in the program? can you tell us how your first few days experience have been?
  6. My Auntie is the greatest! When I was in my teens she always told me I had great potential to do whatever I wanted to do in life. I chose nursing because of her. My Auntie is tough, intelligent, caring and beautiful! Her positive influence will always stay with me. Thank you Auntie and I love you too, Very much!:redpinkhe
  7. When I worked in the alzheimer's LTC unit on average I took care of about 30 residents, with me and 2-3 CNAs. Now I take care of about 22 LTC residents and it varies, my section has 30 available beds. It doesn't seem like much but nowadays my residents are more medically complex. I have a mixed population of residents which vary in age from 30-90 year olds. I also have bariatric residents, I have residents that are there for short-term rehab and need a lot of attention. As everyone here knows that we bust ourselves trying to get done. I don't think the number of residents you care for matter. I can take care of about 40-50 as long as they are medically stable. I know that in hospitals nurses have about 4-5 but stays busy all day long! It's the amount of care that each of them need and the amount of people you have for support to help you care for their needs that matter. Thank goodness for the CNAs I have with me and the treatment nurse who does the dressing changes.
  8. I found out that the essay portion of the admission process is done on the spot. So, just be aware of nursing and health care issues to prepare yourself on the essay.
  9. Is the essay portion done on the spot or can you take it home and perfect it? It's been about 16 years since I've done an essay. Thanks in advance.
  10. From what I hear, they'll let you know about three months prior to the upcoming class start date. Right now, people are hoping to hear something around March 2010 for the May 4, 2010 class start date.
  11. Thank you very much punkeyb88! Just the answers I needed! G
  12. Hello, Trying to look into the PMI program. I noticed the $40,000 tuition price for the RN program; is this the same price if you are already an LPN? I have been trying to do a research on this but only find the 18 month RN program. What is the class schedule like? Is it Monday-Friday 9-5? Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for any assistance. I can't get much information from anyone from PMI unless we go to some kind of seminar. Thanks again.
  13. Hello, What is the WIA program? Is there more information online that I can direct someone who has lost their job. I tried searching in the unemployment website but can't find an application or link. Any information would be really helpful. Thank you, Gnet
  14. I might have to try those z-coils. I have heard a lot of good things about it. I have seen people at the gym wear them too. I haven't seen anyone at work lately with them though.
