Does the online school that you do your nursing pre-requisites matter? I am doing it at a no-name brand online school. It is accredited and I called the schools I am interested in (Simmons University) and they told me they do accept pre-requisite courses from this school. My question is ...will it bring me down that I am not doing at more established and extensive online school. Some schools are super ridiculous charging students $1,300-$1,500 for an online course and I decided to take it a way cheaper school but now I am worried this will cost me even more when I cant get into the school of my choice. Any thoughts from students that got accepted from courses from Portage University (the less expensive online school) that I am attending.

For what you are willing to pay for one class, that amount took care of all my science prerequisites at a community college.
We maybe in COVID-19 but all colleges have transitioned to online format. Summer and Fall registration is around the corner.
To each their own and good luck in your endeavors.
What college is this?
Not sure about that person, but CC here in Wisconsin it’s not much better. Tuition and fees at CC comes to roughly $161.75 a credit. California’s cc rates are amazing. Lucky duckies.
I did my prerequisites online through a community college when I was working on my ASN through Excelsior. I checked with Excelsior to make sure each class transferred before I registered. I'm so thankful I did it this way. The community college courses were very reasonably priced. The classes through the community college were very well organized and I felt well prepared for my nursing classes. I didn't find the online community classes were any "easier" though - they required effort on my part, initially that was a bit of a surprise for me!

I am thankful I did also for community colleges. I’m not gifted to be able to pay $800 per class.

Cost per unit maybe cheaper here in California but I’ll trade it for the cost of living difference in Wisconsin any day.

Indeed. Housing is insane in Cali. It’s not good here, but far better. The home I paid $300k for in rural Virginia would go for 1-1.5 million here and 5 million in Cali or Portland. What a difference location can make.
