Has everyone had to submit a photo to write the NCLEX?

I don't understand why when you go to sit the exam, they already have a photograph of you. What does that have to do with taking an exam?

Someone please explain this to me.

Photo used to verify applicants are who they say they are, to prevent fraud. I was told that in the old days, ringers would go in and take the nursing boards for others all the time. That is how many unqualified people would get nursing licenses. Photo is supposed to preclude false identities being used.

just applied in TN. Had to send in a passport picture with my application. Had I taken it where I went to school, no photo required...Go figure.

Yes. In order to the get the ATT, we had to submit a copy of our driver's license, a passport-sized photo, birth certificate, SS card, and fingerprints/background check to the state board(I may be leaving something out here). I'm assuming that's the same in all states though.

When I took my NCLEX, they took my picture again. Rechecked my fingerprints each time I went in and left the room, and also checked my palm vein.

Like cali said, it's for security and fraud purposes. I understand them. They will also video you while you're taking the exam, as well.
