Once you receive your passing result in the mail, you must mail a copy of this result along with the $120 licensure fee to the California BVNPT. Once the BVNPT processes the payment, they will post your name and license number on the BVNPT website. In California, you must pay for the initial license before you're issued a license number.
I took NCLEX on December 28, 2005 and received my passing result in the mail on January 9. I mailed the check to the California BVNPT on the same day, and my name and license number appeared on the BVNPT website on January 20.

Unfortunately they do not post anything until you pay for your license, which they say takes about 3 weeks to process. I got my results six days ago, drove to Sacramento on Tuesday and paid for my license in person. They gave me a temporary certificate and said it would be another three weeks until the original license was mailed.

My classmate's name and license number was posted on the California BVNPT exactly 2 weeks from the date she drove up to Sac and paid for her license.
