Trained in the US and planning to move to NSW, just wondered if the accelerated second degree program (16 months, 4 semesters, 63 credits) will meet the requirement of NSW. Didn't see anything specifically mentioned about this. Any idea pls? Thanks!
Thanks for the info, iheartRN! I will email the nbv soon. Anyway, I suppose your OPT counted as valid work experience, and that made your application with the NBV a lot more attractive. Unfortunately, I'm back in my home country without such OPT history. This is why I'm having second thoughts about submitting my application to any Australian BON now. But then again, as you said, there is more sense in applying now than later in July when the requirements could be a lot more strict than they are now. Oh well, the clock is ticking, and I should decide soon about what to do. Your story sparked some hope in me, since it's my first time to hear about a US ADN successfully getting registered in NBV. (I've read about another who got registered in Tasamania.) So, thanks a lot again. I hope it's ok to refer to you once in a while for questions in the future. :-)
Sure no prob! never lose hope ayt? dont worry about OPT, I'm sure whats important is ur education qualification , coz thats where ur nursing foundation is from. There's no harm in trying so don't hesitate. cheers!
I registered with Tasmania Board of Nursing with an Associates degree, my whole process was pretty quick. I had 1.5 yrs nursing experience when I applied and a nursing certification in addition to my degree. Like everyone says it is a case by case basis so go ahead and apply. No real details are available on the national registration coming later this year so if you have time maybe apply prior to this.
