I recently submitted my application for Block II and I'm kind of worried that the wait for advanced placement into Block II will be longer. In the meantime I figure that I will likely do the pharmacology class and HESI PN and re-submit my application for Block III. Just curious as to whether there are any drops/failures from Block I?

two people dropped out of my first block because they decided it was bad timing/it wasn't for them/etc. the 2 people who took their places in block 2 both stated that they waited about 2+ years to get back in.
Yikes:eek:. Thanks for responding. I was getting the feeling that Block II placement is more difficult. Guess I'll stick with my plan to resubmit my application to Block III soon.
one of the people was actually waiting to get back into block 3, but took a block 2 opening because it was available. good luck to you!!!

I'm finishing block 1 next week - we've already lost two out of 30, and in speaking to my classmates, it sounds like we could lose a couple more on the final - some are right on the wire.
Hmmm. I have emailed pretty much all the nursing directors. Most are only saying no spots for fall, but I did have one that confirmed at least one Block 2 opening for spring and was going to forward my email to the nursing advisor and told me to contact her later this month to follow up...so I'm hopeful.
FWIW, I think this is standard procedure for Gateway - they called some people the first day of class and offered them spots for block 1. They won't know who passed the final until next Thursday, and block 2 starts the following Tuesday - there isn't any way around a "last-minute" rush.
As far as the advisors, they don't have any way of knowing that someone missed their second clinical on Saturday - and our lead instructor is on vacation until next week - so she may not even know.
Good luck!

I know I have said this before, but please don't give up. I would stick with applying to block III. I had 3 offers for spots for Fall ( I kept emailing and responding w/a thankyou) and 1 was from a college that never responded back and one that said there is absolutely no way there would be spots open for Fall. I also just got an email from Scottsdale offering me a spot for Spring. I would concentrate on Gateway, PC, CGCC, and SCC. Those seem to be the ones offering spots. My friend applied later for block III and kept getting told no spots and then just got calls last week from PC and SCC on same day. It does happen. You just have to keep at it. I KNOW it is frustrating and you jump through a billion hoops but you WILL get in.
That is my pep talk for the day...LOL!

Hey pediRN2b! I know that you are aware of my situation b/c you responded to my other posts. Trust me...I would love to apply straight to Block 3. At this point, I found out that my A & P 2 was one credit too short, so now that needs to be done over along with the pharmacology class that I took previously, and the HESI PN in order for me to apply to Block 3. I feel like for every step forward I'm pushed back two. For me, being able to put my application in for Block 2 felt like a huge accomplishment. I've been doing pre-reqs for a year and a half straight and to be told that I have to re-take classes that I took and passed is a huge blow. I don't want to give up--just knowing that I'm "on the list" gives me a boost.
I'm taking the fall semester off b/c I am burned out mentally right now. My plan is that if I get accepted into Block 2 for the spring--great! I think I would have the summer off and would be able to take A&P 2, ahead of starting Block 3. If not, then I will take A & P 2 and the pharm class in the spring and then apply to Block 3. I just believe that one person may have one path and someone else may take another--but we get to the same place eventually.

You have to take BIO 202 now over again?! That sucks. I am so sorry. You just can't win for losing! So they have a "list" for block II like they do block III? I would think it would be easier to get into block II because you aren't having to compete with all the LPN students who just graduated from Gateway. You never know, classes don't start for a couple more wks and you still may get a call. I know it is hard. I would be burned out too! You are right, you will get there eventually and you will be a great nurse.
Good luck to you!
Thanks pedi. I tell you--if it were not for my awesome husband, the constant encouragement from the RNs I work with to keep going, and my determination to be an RN, I would throw in the towel and say forget it! This just heightens my drive to succeed once I actually get in the program knowing that I went through so much to get in.
I just thought of something, possibly. I am going to PM you as I have to give out names and I can't do that on this open forum.
